domain history?

How would I go about checking out a domains history before I purchased it? I want to make sure that I am not buying up domains that have been banned by google. |afro|

you can check at http://archive.org but don't know how to check if it's been banned or not

http://www.whois.sc/ will give you some history on it as well, but no idea how to check to see if it's blacklisted/banned with anyone.
