Yeah, backups can be a major pain! I really should do them more often though. Most of my stuff is backed up 2-3 times on other boxes on my network. 3 NasLite boxes with 480gB each, plus my main box with 360 gB. Not counting the laptop.
When I do do backups, I use an incremental CD-burner program that keeps adding to the external USB CDRW. When it gets full, I make a copy and drop it in the safety deposit box. Most of the data I have on the system though is from a client. Partial files from a 4 tB DB. I just grab a couple of 120gB drives when I go to their office, and load them up. One of my machines has a removable hard drive tray, so it's just a matter of pop the drives in and away I go. The client is setup top end with scheduled backups to tape magazines, and offsite storage at several of the data storage companies nuke proof bunkers. |
