Hi Guys,

I am new around here. But I really found this an interesting discussion. I am originally from India, though am in SoCal now.

Ramster: Your estimate of someone in a third world country, like India living off $1500 a month is way off. $1500 a month is King's Ransom there. If you were making 1500 a month there, you would be living in a mansion with 2 maids and 2 butlers to boot, and driving the best car around!

Someone making around 40K here, is equivalent to someone making around 7-8K there.

However, I do not think the scenario is as simplistic as that. You might get cheap labor there, but unless the work is very clear cut (and making galleries is anything but), you have real problems getting it done cheaply. The overheads of outsourcing something on a small scale are much higher.

For some of the very large players in the business, maybe the economies of scale might work out in their favor.

The other problem is cultural. Even though the labor is most cheap and abundant in those countries, most of the people whipping out the plastic for porn are in North America or Western Europe. Now, you would be really hard-pressed to find someone not from here well versed with being able to fit in enough culturally to make sucessful galleries/sites in this business.

Thats just my 2 cents worth! :o)

But if anyone is seriously looking at outsourcing a lot of drudge work..hit me up, I have over 12 people working for me in base in India..though I don't get much porn work done from there.
