I never trade links with blogs running the default theme. Quite simply, it shows a lack of that "spark" that shows me you at least care to the point of actually involving your time to go through the about 5000 themes that are out there, finding one, and modifying it slightly to make it your own, giving your site personality and interest.
I also don't tend to trade if I can easily find "Welcome to WordPress. This is your first post. Edit or delete it, then start blogging!" on the front page. Worse if I find that there are posts made on the site that predate this "sample post".
Please! Take the time to make your blog your own, make sure it has real AND complete content (no half borrowed stories with no links and no completion) and show me that it is actually somewhat active (even 1 addition a week is good... )
