I think many of those solo girl "indie" sites are given poor advice about creating an affiliate program before their site is really ready to support one, and without any advice on how to properly promote an affilate program once they have it set up.

Keeping up with the turn over is a bit of a chore, but the ones that get it right have superb retention.
