![]() ![]() This meant in my case: · travel to Germany on real short notice (like: learn it Thursday night, try to find flights on Friday, arrange all things and pack on Saturday, leave Sunday morning) · arrange funeral · deal with all her estate (and she had been a collector extraordinaire) · and as an "alien" (I don't have citizenship any more) try to deal with lots of German bureaucracy... Unfortunately the distance and that I'm the only close relative remaining didn't make it very easy. It's been a testing time in Germany, and our return wasn't made easy either: Singapore Airlines (I always liked their service in the past) stuffed up our booking in Singapore, and then on return in OZ our first experience after an exhausting journey was to be locked in between immigration and customs for 3 hours because the airport staff refused to unload luggage due to a severe thunderstorm - finally arrived home after 3 at night... And it didn't get much better after that: the first time I tried to turn on my trusted computer it booted half way and then died - and I mean really completely utterly dead: |goodnight power supply, motherboard, video card, memory, CD rom - all gone! Now that I have finally set up a brand spanking new machine I find heaps of smaller nuisances: several sites I always dealt with are gone (and it has been only 2 months!!), some sponsors changed their log-in procedures and scripts (can't get at all into CCBill[?!], Silvercash's new log-in console is the stupiest thing I've ever seen: doesn't even run on this newly installed version of WIN XP/IE 6 and ADSL!), and so on... And I thought I could simply go and continue from where I left on the 7th of December... ![]()
