Question Can a free site over-promote being free?

Can a free site over-promote being free? Obviously most of the traffic a free site gets will only be interested in what they can get for no money.

Once the potential customer is on the actual free site should there really be any text or graphics promoting free this and free that?

Also is there any harm in the domain name containing the word free?

I guess what I'm getting at is once the customer is there we want them to stop thinking "free" and start thinking "I gotta have more... sign me up!" so we should start focusing on the sale correct?

This was just a thought in my head. I tend to complicate things at times. I hope it makes sense to somebody.
