by my experience i can say that more sales come from SE traffic and not from the LL's, but if you are not listed at good LL's you'll never get SE traffic....
In that point building duplicate free sites with different content (like tgp galleries) will probably lead you nowhere. As for how many sales per site... you may submit one and make a sale form it months or even year later (the day before yesterday i had 2 sales from site built in 2005)
