Curious
I didn't own a real kit in 30 years because I gave up on music and started racing motorcycles. At that moment in life I preferred knowing how my skills stacked up on race day versus whether I had the right look, Hollywood in the 80's, versus whether my chops were good enough.

Looking back, I should of kept playing (I suck now, lol) or at least continued writing music (played little guitar/bass) and drum programming. I did some programming for a couple guitarist/singer/songwriters for their demo tapes as I had a little home studio at that time as well. Packed it all up and slowly gave it all way over the years.

Anyhoo, for my birthday a couple months back I got the new digital Alesis Crimson kit, couple extra cymbals, double pedal, monitor/amp (so I don't have to wear headphones all the time) and extra goodies. Was not sure how I would enjoy it or stick to it so my wife decided that spending 2 thousand was a lot cheaper than the 5 I would of for the Roland kit I wanted (that's including all goodies).

It's been good so far, except for the fact that I suck and that gets frustrating when playing along with songs I use to play with ease way back when. This is my exercise program right now as I play for an hour, 3 to 5 days a week. I need more exercise but this is a start

If I continue and the chops actually come back then I may buy an acoustic set to jam with people or the Roland kit I wanted and let my grandson have this one, thou he shows no interest at this time
