Hey MML,
I dunno if it's the same thing your looking for but a while back and ran across this: close everything, go to Desktop, Drag and drop My Computer to the middle of your tool bar and use the menu it creates to browse your files. It will show the files that windows likes to hide like the folder Surfn mentioned...

Anywho I don't know if that will help but I figured I'd throw it out there...
