I think if you want to take the time to setup your windows machine carefully and also be careful with what attachments you open you can get away without Norton et al same as a mac.. it just ends up being simpler to let norton worry about it for most people. (Norton, MS and other fat program makers are all part of a conspiracy to bog our pc's down so intel can keep flogging faster chips imho! )
