It would really depend on how they want to use it.. if just for "chatting" then Logitech makes a nice one that has a built in mic for about 40.00.

The next up from that is one that has a Zoom and is pretty standard for for camgirls when they are starting out so it it gives a nice clear pic and has zoom and a mic as well. 640x480 resolution.

Quick Cam Pro

Also has a nice little Mobile feature to send to camphones as well.

otherwise from there upward are digital cams or high end video cams.

I'm sure there are quite a few others but that's what we "pros" start out with.
