Researching everything *really* helps.

You need to start a file and look up as much information as you can on everything you can possibly think of.

Also need to compare prices and find out specs for:
Hosting: which host, server space, how much bandwidth, how much are you prepared to pay...
CC Processing (are you in the US or Europe? If not, give up NOW)
Content: which plugins, which movies, which pics... and how will you deal with Acacia if they come knocking on your door

And as people have already said, you have to work hard and know that a paysite is kinda like a baby. You have to look after it, can't just leave it to fend for itself...
