I'm looking for a free host with php/MySQL host.

I am going to run joomla and I need PHP version >= 4.1.0/MySQL and atleast 100 megs of space and a reasonable amount of bandwith. no banners (small text banners at the bottom if I must)
And I need the sql not to be running in safe mood (atleast while I'm installing it)
and it must be on an apache server.

sorry I know thats a long laundry list but thats what the software requiers.
somone please point me in the right direction.

I've been loosing sleep over this and it does not help that I spent all this morning uploading and cmoding and the software not work on the host I have because it was in safe mode. |confused|

I don't think you are going to find all that in free hosting. $10.00 or $20.00 a month to have what you want seems like chump change to me compared to the headaches of looking for what you are looking for in a free host now.

Exactly. Also, does'nt make sense to put time and energy into something that is/will not be on it's permenant home. Build something up, that will just have to be moved, change links, ect.

I guess you have not heard many true life horror stories about using free hosting either. Why do you think most traffic sources will not link to them? Seems like a big waste of time to me. But to each their own. If it's a hobby guess it really does'nt matter. Good luck trying to find a free host that does'nt require many of their own ads.

Most all that have been around a long time, paid for web hosting when there were 0 hits a day..

actually most free hosts have a paid service also, and how I am treated while using the free service determins if and when i upgrade. doing that (if i'm happy with said service) will eliminate the problem of having to move everything if the site grows.

LOL Thanks for reminding me of those days Ronnie! I remember my first "free" site had a little over 100 pics (not all the same niche), 3-5 banners per page (none for the same sponsor site), traffic leaks everywhere and zero traffic. NO one would list it! But the one thing I did have right about the whole damn thing was...it was on paid hosting!

THEN I found a webmaster board and found out what else needed to be fixed!

And most free hosts suck traffic from you, or close down and all your stuff vanishes from the web, or you have to use their sponsor stuff (if it is run by a sponsor) or they shut your site down when it pulls too much bw at any given time...
Like Ronnie said, great idea for a hobby...I wouldn't start a biz with it.

Sure dont make sense to build a "following" on anything but paid hosting, so the following does'nt have to find the new place each time. Ya, I started with paid host and no traffic, but the following always knew where to go...

sbm4latinaz, listen ronnie on this one he's been around a long time. What might be a hobby today might be a fulltime job tomorrow. Shoot plenty of hosts out there that have hosting plans for $10 a month that's roughly .33 cents a day cheaper than a cup of coffee a day.

I understand you don't want to spend $10-40 a month BUT if you do build a following then chances are you will lose some of them when you move the site. And I do not know many free hosts that offer upgrades to paid hosts like you mention. If you do then use them. Even then the domain or url changes so that will still suck.

Well for me its mostly a hobby, and for what i want to do yes eventualy it might make money but it would be a slow grinding process(just being realistic).
you see I'm interested in a niche that is not all that populer(to paying custumers anyway)
You see I'm into exotic amateurs, the most hard to find thing on the net.
most site that say amateur latina, asian or indian actualy try to pass off pro-am bullshit as amateur
I just wanted to create a place where people could view trade and promote the few examples of REAL exotic amateurs.
I have a software package that would help me make a site that would fill all those needs in one place, rss feeds, a forum, links, galleries, the ability for visiters to post pics on the forum etc etc .
I am averaging 200 new members a week on my three yahoo groups and even some of my members dont get it. (some try to post pro-am crap and get kicked)
Just to give you an idia of the type of niche I wish to target
These are my yahoogroups:
amateur ghatto latinaz

711-beauty

24-hour sweatshop.

And for each type of model I like there is mostly crap on the net, all the asian sites use models, most of the latina sites use girls that look more italian than hispanic, and the indian site tend to just piss me off (so called indian women wearing western clothing and such).
But every once in awhile I find the real thing and I feel there most be more I havent found
so if i build a community around the niche slowly I will find what i seek and help others in the process.
Oh and for those of you who dont yahoo you can see kinda what I'm into by following this link.

Bet you would think you had died and gone to heaven if you went to Tijuana.
I have to agree with everyone that has replied to your thread even if this is just your hobbie you would be way ahead in the long run with a domain name and paid hosting

Actually I've been to tijuana and I much prefer juarez, the prices are much better because there are fewer amaericans(though thats changing).
When i go to mexico I try to avoid places where americans go because you tend to get more for the doller that way, and my spanish is functional (thogh last time I went i found out from a girl that i was getting such good prices because at 6ft5 black and speaking spanish they assumed i was one of the colombian drug dealers legbreakers lol).

but yes for 20 bucks I could get a girl that would go for 1,000 in nevada.
You just gotta love that.

I'm trying to decide on where to move in Mexico I have it narrowed down to 3 spots, Santo Thomas, San Quitin or Gurrero Negro. Juarez never entered the equation, I would rather spend a little more and smell salt air and feel a sea breeze.
Juarez doesn't have 1200 licensed sex workers, there really is more to life than just saving a buck

maybe so, but I do like getting my moneys worth(hate being riped off).
And the reason I like juarez is because its actually mexico, the places you mentioned are too touresty, and cancunn ans mexico city are even worse, everyone speaks english and acts american. If I wanted to eat at mcdonalds, go to the beach and see a bunch of blonds while getting overcharged for everything and meeting a bunch of stuckup women I would vacation in california.

In juarez you have beautiful women (who arent stuck up or over priced) an old west feel, and there is no legal trouble you can get into that 10 bucks to the cop wont solve.

Now some people say that the people of juarez are not friendly but thats usually people who go there acting like they own the place, they put up with that in the tourist spots like mexico city or cancunn but in juarez being rude can get you in a ditch.

I have been to a few other countries and I like to see the real life in that country, not the suger coated fake americanized areas.
And its those places where you get taken advantage of simple because you are american.
Through overpricing (based on that countries economy) Thats why i always find out where the locals go.

I signed up with them years ago. Things have changed over there now since Matt took over.

To what I know of know of new account requests don't take any longer than a day or so.

I've contacted them for you to try and chase it up for you

If you still don't let me know and I'll send you over their ICQ.

Hey guys,

Thanks for all the kind words. I alone approve all new customers and so that does create a time lag sometimes (especially at 2 am on a Saturday night).

Because of the way our system operates, we are very careful in our screening process so I am not willing to turn approvals over to a "system." I hope you understand, but the benefit goes to everyone in our system.

One thing that needs to be clear though, we are NOT a free host. We have a unique billing model in that we earn a piece of every sale you make, so we truly have an interest in helping you be successful.

The fact that we do earn money when you make sales is why we don't do any of the Free Host tricks outlined by others in this thread. We are a full service hosting company with a unique billing concept that is ideal for anyone who builds galleries or free sites.

Hit me up on ICQ if you have any questions or if you need anything!

Matt
