hi there....

I need help with some information about Internext 2004..

I have never been to one of the events...

I found out that I WON a roudn trip air line ticket from my home to the convention in Vegas... and hotel stay at the Venetian for Jan 4-6 and full admission to the Internext
Convention...

but...

here's what I need to know:

1. the convention runs 5-7 - - so should I plan to stay over on the night of the 7th as well ??

2. if I do stay over and the Veneitian can't accomodate me for that extra day - and I think there was another thread here by Surfin that says all the other surrounding hotels are also full and even overbooked - - - where would I get a room for that extra night ?? - - I'd need to know now before I arrive in Vegas if I have a place to stay on the 7th - - because it makes a difference on the DATE for return flight

3. what's the last day of the event like ?? - hours, events etc...
are there parties worth staying through the 7th for ??

4. I want to go to the GG&J party - what do I need to do to get into that one ?? (for me and my companion)

5. I want to go to the EP party - what do I need to do to get in to that one?? (for me and my travel companion)

6. How do I get an extra convention full admission pass for my travel companion ??

7. Is anyone staying over for the AVN event 8-11 ??

8. Should I plan to stay through the 8th to go to that as well ??

9. How does one get entrance passes to that ??

10. what will the weather be like during the Jan. 4-6 ??

11. Will airlines let you take on digital cameras and cell phones ??

12. Who going will have their cell phones with them - that will be useable while in Vegas ??

13. any suggestions on a cell phone plan that has no extra charge for the out of state long distance plan for say 200 minutes+ per month - - - a plan that does NOT require a contract signing ?? - - or is it easier to grab a pickup and go plan while IN Vegas ??

14. If my digital camera get's FULL wihile there - do I just take the memory chip thing out and put a new one in ??
Does taking the chip out retain what was on it till I get back to OHIO to put it back in my camera and download the pics ??

15. is any special permission required to take a digital camera or cell phone onto the convention floor ?? - and I will have a tote bag - will that be permitted into the convention floor ??

16. how many business cards do you all usually go through at the event ?? - - - 500 1000 2000 + ??

1. AVN is right after Internext. So staying over may not be a bad idea.
2. As far as I know and from what I looked into a few weeks ago the rooms are much more expensive for AVN then they are for Internext, so good luck finding a room.
3. From my experience the last day of Internext is usually the tamest, most plp are dead tired and hung over.
4. If you are talking about the Webmaster Retreat, just show up, no invitation needed.

6. you can buy passes there, I think they are $250

10. Average around mid 60s in the day to mid 30s at night.
11. Yes, but cells are not allowed to be used during flight, I have taken pics in a airplane w/ no issues and my cameras are my carry on.
12. I will have my cell and yes it works fine, much better then it doses in Hollywood at the Westin.

14. yes you can just switch the sticks out, or if you know someone who uses the same type of camera and have laptop they can download it to their laptop and burn a cd for you.
15. take what you want, they will also give you a bag to carry all the stuff you get.
16. plan for the most, we will be bringing at least 1000

AVN is the convention for the fans, from what I understand. I'm gonna skip it.

I don't see a reason to stay the last night. The rumor about all hotels being full isn't true from what I can tell. A lot of them are offering bargain packages in January because travel is still down due to the economy. The Venetian, I'm sure, is full, but I just got a room across the street at Treasure Island, and I would say there'll be serveral thousand rooms available along the strip within walking distance. There aren't enough people in this industry to fill every room in Vegas...heh.

The last few shows, a lot of people flew out in the afternoon or evening of the last day of the convention. There's very few parties that night, the main one beign the Players Ball, which is not exactly to everyone's taste (not really my scene) But we stay a few days after because we want to do some tourist stuff

Call the Venetain NOW if you plan on staying an extra day. If they have no rooms, start calling around to other local hotels (there's a lot of sites you can look up hotels at & I doubt that all of Vegas is sold out for that night)

Show hours are short on the last day - I think they wrap up around 3? And again, it all depends on what parties that you hear of & whantot.

You don;t use the camera much, huh? LOL Yes, you can take out the memory card & put another one in there & it'll be safe til you get home

If it's a flash card, I can dump them onto my computer for you if you fill all your cards

All are allowed.

All depends on how much you network I went thru 500+ last time, but then again I placed cards on all the tables at the party I sponsored.

A couple of things on this:

I am staying until the 10th, going to do the AVN show as well. While it is a little too fan oriented (especially later in the day), it is a good way to see what it is that the drooling masses are interested in. You can see what the video industry is suggesting might be new, and what it is they are promoting the most. It is a good way to get the temperature of the industry. Depending on your flight, you might want to stay for the day of the 8th to do the show, and then fly out that night. Figure about 2 - 3 hours to do the AVN show reasonably.

On the last day of the show people tend to be moving VERY slowly and are not much for doing anything big, but the players ball runs on the 7th, so some people might be staying around for that. The last day can be good for getting people to finally settle down and make some deals and stuff.

There is almost as much going on the 4th, so make sure you get in at a reasonable time to get the show on the road (I am in noon on Sunday, which gives me enough time to get in, get registered, etc. The round bar in the middle of the Venetian Casino floor is a typical meeting place at this event. :-)

For those who wonder, I am staying at Treasure Island, got a decent package through Northwest Airlines for flight, hotel and car. That really improves things a bunch. ;-)

I went through expedia.com for a trip for two. Arriving Sunday at 1PM and leaving Friday at noon. Fiight, car, and room for two at the Stratosphere came to $550 each. We are staying an extra full day so as to do some sight seeing.

Bell, I am staying over until the 8th. I am staying at Harrah's. A couple of my friends are flighting in to play poker with me at the Horseshoe and they had no trouble getting a room there this week. Also you might want to consider staying at the Golden Nugget downtown so you can see the Fremont Street Experience. It is awsome. Usually you can get a room at the Golden Nugget for under $50. I think I am paying $60 at Harrah's. Looking forward to seeing you at the GGandJim pre- convention kickoff.

I remember having the same type of questions the first time I went as well. Looks like most were answered.

We actually stayed and went to the AVN Show & AVN Awards 2 years ago..

Show = ok for one day
Awards = Boring, we left early.

We are still staying till the 11th this year, we generally always stay over a few extra days just incase I get a wild hair up ye ol kiester.

I used expedia.com a few minutes ago for booking my
travel partners flight... I hope that the two tickets purchased
through different people but both through expedia - will
be able to result in the airline letting us sit togehter on all
legs of the journey to and fro...

You'll have a rocking good time.

I'm driving down from Seattle with Betty Boob and maybe one of the other Th.com girls. Several are coming from Cali, AZ and we have 3 that live in vegas so we are all getting together to do a content photo shoots at my cousin's club on the 5th, in the morning. I'm booked solid on the 6th but you are welcome to hang with us if you'd like and it will be great to meet you too!

I know that Harrah's has rooms, Stardust has rooms, Rio has rooms and if you want to see more local vegas, downtown is a very good place to go for a night or 2 and the rooms are very reasonable, as chop said. Off the strip hotels are good value too like the Orleans, Gold Coast etc.

I have AT&T national plan but if this is just a one time shot, maybe like GG said, get a throwaway and phone card. in the long run it might be cheaper.

If you plan on networking quite a bit i'd say at least 500 cards.

another good thing to do is contact people you are really interested in meeting with and try to pre-arrange either at their booth or for a drink.. if it's just to chit chat, don't but if you have serious business to do with them, pre-arranged meetings are really good as schedules book up and you could be at their booth and they have zero time to yak with you.

and if you've never been to vegas, if you at a bar, buy a roll of quarters or dollars and the drinks are free if they have table tops. All grocery stores, gas stations, etc have slots too, one of the things i was amazed at when i 1st moved to vegas.

you can always go to your local Kinkos and download your pics and i think there is going to be a computer lounge or something you might be able to use if GG's isn't available, and we'll have at least 1 if not 2 laptops and cam set ups with us as well.

So staying over may not be a bad idea. 2. As far as I know and from what I looked into a few weeks ago the rooms are much more expensive for AVN then they are for Internext, so good luck finding a room. 3. From my experience the last day of Internext is usually the tamest, most plp are dead tired and hung over. 4. If you are talking about the Webmaster Retreat, just show up, no invitation needed. 5. no idea 6. you can buy passes there, I think they are $250 7. I am not 8. If you want 9. No idea 10. Average around mid 60s in the day to mid 30s at night. 11. Yes, but cells are not allowed to be used during flight, I have taken pics in a airplane w/ no issues and my cameras are my carry on. 12. I will have my cell and yes it works fine, much better then it doses in Hollywood at the Westin. 13. no idea 14. yes you can just switch the sticks out, or if you know someone who uses the same type of camera and have laptop they can download it to their laptop and burn a cd for you. 15. take what you want, they will also give you a bag to carry all the stuff you get. 16. plan for the most, we will be bringing at least 1000 And congrats on your win.

RawAlex Took the hint. Join Date: Mar 2003 Posts: 5,597	A couple of things on this: I am staying until the 10th, going to do the AVN show as well. While it is a little too fan oriented (especially later in the day), it is a good way to see what it is that the drooling masses are interested in. You can see what the video industry is suggesting might be new, and what it is they are promoting the most. It is a good way to get the temperature of the industry. Depending on your flight, you might want to stay for the day of the 8th to do the show, and then fly out that night. Figure about 2 - 3 hours to do the AVN show reasonably. On the last day of the show people tend to be moving VERY slowly and are not much for doing anything big, but the players ball runs on the 7th, so some people might be staying around for that. The last day can be good for getting people to finally settle down and make some deals and stuff. There is almost as much going on the 4th, so make sure you get in at a reasonable time to get the show on the road (I am in noon on Sunday, which gives me enough time to get in, get registered, etc. The round bar in the middle of the Venetian Casino floor is a typical meeting place at this event. :-) For those who wonder, I am staying at Treasure Island, got a decent package through Northwest Airlines for flight, hotel and car. That really improves things a bunch. ;-) Alex

Arriving Sunday at 1PM and leaving Friday at noon. Fiight, car, and room for two at the Stratosphere came to $550 each. A couple of my friends are flighting in to play poker with me at the Horseshoe and they had no trouble getting a room there this week. Also you might want to consider staying at the Golden Nugget downtown so you can see the Fremont Street Experience. It is awsome. Usually you can get a room at the Golden Nugget for under $50. I think I am paying $60 at Harrah's. Looking forward to seeing you at the GGandJim pre- convention kickoff. __________________

I'm driving down from Seattle with Betty Boob and maybe one of the other Th.com girls. Several are coming from Cali, AZ and we have 3 that live in vegas so we are all getting together to do a content photo shoots at my cousin's club on the 5th, in the morning. I'm booked solid on the 6th but you are welcome to hang with us if you'd like and it will be great to meet you too! I know that Harrah's has rooms, Stardust has rooms, Rio has rooms and if you want to see more local vegas, downtown is a very good place to go for a night or 2 and the rooms are very reasonable, as chop said. Off the strip hotels are good value too like the Orleans, Gold Coast etc. I have AT&T national plan but if this is just a one time shot, maybe like GG said, get a throwaway and phone card. in the long run it might be cheaper. If you plan on networking quite a bit i'd say at least 500 cards. another good thing to do is contact people you are really interested in meeting with and try to pre-arrange either at their booth or for a drink.. if it's just to chit chat, don't but if you have serious business to do with them, pre-arranged meetings are really good as schedules book up and you could be at their booth and they have zero time to yak with you. and if you've never been to vegas, if you at a bar, buy a roll of quarters or dollars and the drinks are free if they have table tops. All grocery stores, gas stations, etc have slots too, one of the things i was amazed at when i 1st moved to vegas. you can always go to your local Kinkos and download your pics and i think there is going to be a computer lounge or something you might be able to use if GG's isn't available, and we'll have at least 1 if not 2 laptops and cam set ups with us as well.
