Vodka & Sweetened Iced Tea?

For some reason, this just popped into my head - probably because I had a few of them last night

Whenever The Bitch & I travel, we notice a few things that are different from back home. Two of these things are:

1 - the lack of sweetened iced tea as the "default" iced tea
2 - no knowledge of what a "vodka & tea" is

Vodka & Tea is of couse a cocktail consisting of vodka & sweetened iced tea. While it is not my drink of choice, I have tried to order it a few times while on vacation or at conventions. Most of the time they ask why I want a cup of tea with vodka in it

Vodka & Tea up here is just a popular as Rum & Coke, Gin & Tonic, 7 & 7, Vodka & OJ, etc.

So, what's it like where you live?

I prefer Vodka on the rocks with a drop of sweet Vermouth. (Actually, I've been drinking old school Manhattans, as of late, but I digress.)

I did try that Tea of yours in Miami though...pretty damn good shit.

I never heard of it. I was wondering what the tea was for when you asked me to pick it up for you along with the liquor order.

PS: If I drive to Vegas I'll throw all the left over beer and liquor in the car and bring it to you. Being as all my friends and I are not drinkers but pot heads it will evaporate before it ever gets consumed unless I throw a big party at my house, but that is unlikely.

Speaking of drinking…

When all of us girls had a day out from the convention The Bitch looked at me like I had two heads when at lunch I asked for a Dirty Martini.

For those that never heard of a Dirty Martini, like GreenGuy's better half, it is a vodka Martini straight up with a little olive juice in it making it look dirty.

Yes, a killer drink. But I would ask for Vodka, on the rocks with a drop of sweet Vermouth and a splash of olive juice instead.

Why you ask?

Because then you get the drink in a manly Highball glass instead of those fruity Martini glasses. I made that mistake once and I felt like such a fool holding that little stupid glass. (I feel like my pinky should be extended.)

Those were made for the ladies.

no tea in any form for me.. i'm a coffeeholic.. splash anything into it is fine.. well almost..

when i was in atlanta the most popular drink was "Dipity Doo" .. vodka and Mt. Dew and i think Spike & I know every bar on the north end of I-85 inside before spagitti junction..our favorite for rowdy was "Naughtys" on Buford Highway.. a full bar attached to a laundry matt.

But i ran the gamut of drinks, all the popular mixes to straight up gin.. finally settled on Bloody marys (the only time i get concentrated vitamin C) Sangria and topping off with a drink called Cafe Maz Mescal *after my favorite restaurant in Manhattan.. Tequila, brandy, triple sec, slice of orange.. flammed.. add cinnamon and douse flame cafe con leche. top with wipped cream..

i have a WHOLE thigh dedicated to that drink..

My wife drinks something similar to your Vodka and sweetened tea, except she adds a splash of Southern Comfort instead of suger. Gives it a nice refreshing flavour. (It's also an excuse for a higher alcohol drink

I have been a vodka man almost all of my life. I started to drink at 16, 30 years ago, and rocking and rolling still.

As I drink every day I mainly drink dry white wine. Not so bad when you get used to it, and you can buy it in big boxes, 3 litres in one box.

Back to vodka. I drink Stolishnaya, and Stolishnaya only. I can drink other vodkas too, if I'm in someplace that don't have Stoli. Then I wish I can have Absolut. I'm a patriot, but I must confess Finnish Vodka is OK, but not in Top 5, in Top 10, well, yes.

I like to drink my vodka chilled, just straight from on the rocks glass, without any ice. I keep my Stoli in fridge, and couple of bottles in freezer, for snaps. If you're going to eat black caviar for breakfast, you must have freezed Stoli and Russian Champagne (dry).

In a hangover morning, put a big splash of Stoli in your black morning coffee, and your hands stop shaking.

At 80's "White Russian" was very popular here in Finland. Vodka, Coffee Liquor and milk. "Black Russian" was other favourite: same drink without milk in on the rocks glass with ice.

The strangest drink I have seen was vodka and sour milk with ice.

My wife's favourite just now is Smirnoff Ice. Small bottles that have Smirnoff Vodka and some kind of lemon drink - too sweet for real men, lol!

My favourite drink is Screwdriver - Stoli and orange juice. If you have seen the movie "Jackie Brown" you have seen some serious Screwdriver drinking.

In Russia they drink the vodka straight from the glass and then have a sip of red whortleberry juice. Not bad. Used to be favourite here in Finland too, but we finns put them both in same long glass. I have had so many drink contests with my Russian friends...

Sorry about long post, I can talk about vodka hours and hours, but I let you in peace now.

Ooops...I forgot the ice tea. I have never tried it. People say it's good, but I have never done it, nor drink it. I'm a coffee drinker.

Irish Coffee, French Coffee...I was once in lunch at hotel Palace in Tallinn, Estonia with drunken finnish business man. We drank 15 Irish Coffees after luch, per man. Talking about long lunches...

I've drank it but i prefer unsweetened ice tea,been like that for 30+yrs plus less sugar less hangover..But give me the other ice tea anytime Long Island that is hehehe.

My personal favorite is Bailey's... yum, ice cold but without ice.
