cd34--It looks to me like you bought a doorway into an affiliate program where you have no control over the domain, site design, links, hosting, etc. in return for a share of the money. I.e., you get x%, your vendor keeps 100-x% for the costs of running the backend, hosting, design work, etc.

I bought it from a company called Amber Telecom I think I have learnt my lesson. It is doing my head in, but the best thing is I haven't told the wife, she will go into orbit.

It's not all that bad. You have come to the right place to learn how to build sites and make money. Most of us have lost money one way or another and losing $500 isn't the end of the world. Would $500 really change anybody's life? As you said, just treat it as a lesson learned.
