My paypal account hacked

Wow that is the first time this has happened. I had 3 small charges right in a row from my paypal account tonight. I just put in a claim to paypal for unauthorized charges, changed my security question and password. Anyone else have this happen?

I've never had any issues with my Paypal account but I do get non stop phishing scams in my email.

Do you think that you had a weak password or did you fall for one of the phishing scams?

Years ago a telecommunications company charged my pay pal account $79. I remember that I had no clue who they where or how they got my login info. I never did get my money back. Like Cleo mentioned, I probably did have a weak password. With all this talk recently about hacking into accounts, I've been busy changing passwords across the board.

Never happened to me, and I too get dozens of those emails every single day.

Good idea to change your passwords, everywhere... and dont use the same one either!

Good luck!

Yea, the phishing scams...along with all spam, is way outta control

Sorry to hear that happened V, haven't had it happen here yet. But, I did log in and change p/w for both PP and Epass recently to be a bit safer.

Bank of America has a nice feature to stop phishing that all of these companies should use. You have to pick out something like a baseball, bird...etc. And type in what that is. So, when you get a phishing email, if that item is not there, you know something is screwy. I almost was scammed. The domain was so close to the Bank of America domain that I actually clicked the link. When I didn't see my item, I knew it was a scam.

I had that happen a couple years ago, spent more time than the charges were worth on the phone with paypal finale gave up and abandoned the account and opened a new one in the wifes name.

I'm afraid it was weak password. I don't login off any of those emails. I don't have a weak password now, and it isn't one I've used on any other site.

The largest charge for 12.00 has already been reversed by the chargee. The other two are for less than $3.00 thankfully, so even if they don't get reversed, it isn't a big loss.

I just opened my email and the 2nd of three charges was refunded by paypal from their investigation. Wow paypal is working fast on this.

I'm just glad I caught it quick, who knows what they would have charged next...maybe a really big charge if they saw all the little ones going through.
