Sites Not Converting. Need Feedback

damn guys, that makes a whole lot of sense!!!!!!!

and here i spent an hour making flashy graphics while I waited for more responses LOL.

Some of my first sites were using plain text, but see way too many using flashing .gif text links. they seemed to catch my eye so I started putting them in, but they are taking WAY too much time to make. Normal text site used to take me about an hour to make. these are an entire night!

Only an hour, eh? I can show you some all night text sites.

The smoother the workflow the easier it is to keep 'em regular. The more you get out the more opportunities to find that surfer who's hungering for what you've got. Reason enough to change practice, no?

That's something I have to remind myself every time I sit down long enough to build a site.

Another thing about flashy graphic links and text is it's not getting indexed in the search engines. I didn't check to see if your using the ALT tag for your graphics, but that might help a little too, but I don't think it's going to be as good as a good ol h1 tag with the sites keywords right in it. The whole thing is a game of numbers and also figuring out what is selling for you. There are a lot of sites out there that I think look awesome, but for the life of me I just couldn't sell.

What they say about text - and lots of BIG text - in addition to the example of the grocery store advertising - take a look at magazines or the Sunday newspapers - what catches your eye immediately? Remember you only have a few seconds(if that much time) to make that impression - and definitely make the surfer click back to get another gallery - one more ad impression
