Who uses RSS feeds?

I'm getting inundated with requests for RSS feeds using my toons. I'd thought about it a while back but was too busy. Now it's turning into quite the converter for surfers.

Anyone use RSS for their sites and how good are you doing with it?

i'm just starting an experimental site that is totally fed by sponsor rss feeds. up side is constant fresh content that i never even have to see it, down side is that its not unique at all and i never even have to see it, so it could be something i don't want.

How much are they charging you per feed or is it an affiliate thing?

I've already got tons of content to get an RSS feed rockin' and rollin' and is more my cup of tea especially if I'm doing serialized cartoon strips or comic book pages. I guess I'll have to find someone who handles this kind of thing and see what the options are.

I don't know anyone that charges for these feeds. Its all free. I've never actually set one up and dont know how. But I need to get into it though. Most people on blogs love the rss feeds. Much easier than doing everything manually.

A lot of webmasters are now using RSS feeds that are provided by sponsors for free.

Excellent feedback!

I sat up all last night re-studying RSS. Now I know why I didn't use it first time around. It wasn't up to par with what I wanted to do. Now it's streamlined.

I looked at how much content I have and if I did a post a day I wouldn't run out for a year easy. I'm just doing a toon RSS feed showing the toons, each step how they were made even the people who model for me if they'll pose. One is x rated the other is G rated.

Sketch as I go along.

I use other sponsors feeds as well as supply my own to my affiliates. You can see mine in action on this test wordpress blog: www.singlegirlblog.com

From an affiliate side they are a great way to capitalize on some easy SE traffic. From a sponsor side they are a great way to get some more traffic to your program.

Do them right though. Don't be lazy. Provide good size pics with lots of text with hyperlinked keywords and links going to the tour and galleries works good and makes everyone happy.

I use a lot of sponsor feeds. In fact, [BV] feeds provide content for the sidebar on one of my blogs.

If an affiliate takes the time to learn about feed readers and how to work them into a site, there are many useful ways to promote sponsor feeds.

Well I'm goin' blog/feed crazy. Been up all night and day studying. D/loaded a half dozen blogging programs and realized I have a ton of content already. Being a professional writer for the past 27 years helps too.

My content is serialized as I'm using cartoons. I'm also interviewing friends of mine who have their own adult sites and affiliate programs. It's going to be fun to draw them as cartoon characters in an adventure. I'm sure people will show up each week for the next adventure. Makes good for that 'clubhouse' feel for the surfers.

With content, cartooning tutorials, I'm pretty well set. Now comes the setting up the blog/RSS that fits me perfectly.

Just for fucks and yuks I started a blog on blogger. I'm sure they'll kick me off soon http://boonesadultcartoons.blogspot.com

Most sponsor feeds suck, I only found a few good ones like the one I use at http://www.latinteennudes.com

RSS feeds are a great thing...especially if you start a project because you somehow got inspired and came up with the perfect domain name and think, man, I could make a million dollars off that domain...then once you're up and running and realize it's just like all the other domains, rss feeds are good to maintain the site with little or no effort with a wordpress blog and the autoblog plug-in.

There are tons of free little php scripts that you can display a feed on any php page. Do a search: http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...ur+webpage+php

I'd stay away from the javascript ones as se spiders will ignore that text.

I grabbed an open source one and modified it to not display the images and to convert it to display just a link to the image because unlike my beachmodel feed many other sponsors feeds use content that requires record keeping.

So this way you can have a page that updates automatically with fresh content and text with your link codes.

Excellent points there BV.

I learned today the dangers of rss feeds that's why I only use toons. No need for age verification for the models. Sheesh.

Also what a pain in the ass installing WordPress is. It should be the simplest thing but nooOOOooo. Then I figured it was just me screwing up and I went to WordPress' website and found umpteen tens of thousands of people with installation problems. Even visual tutorials were 99% helpful but as usual they were written by geeks for geeks and expect us to use geek mental telepathy to figure out what the heck they meant.

Sheesh! What a pain in the ass installing WordPress was. I followed the tutorial and it was easy but it really depends on your host, browser. Two hosts it was easy as pie to set up. Two others a real pain.

I'm using a simple theme for the time being and learning how to optimize for sales across the board.

A lot of our affiliates use feeds for their blogs... If you can get a good mix of sponsor feeds the sites become fairly automated.. it's just important that you use good variety amongst your various sites, else it will all just be stale, redundant content..

RSS and automation in general is pretty much the way of the future

You can say that again John! I was building a webcam site to sell affiliate webcam programs. Now that I'm blogging and seeing the advantage of having quality affiliates to promote.

Another thing that is smart to do, is do the reverse. Turn your HTML pages into RSS feeds and have an alternate version of your site. The benefit of that is people who are using feed readers can tell when you've updated your HTML pages/RSS feeds. There are scripts out there to do this, I've done it before with some mainstream sites. Just Google it.
