It's one of those golden bits of advice that I wish I'd been aware of ages ago. After reading that thread I managed to get to around 15 freesites ahead of schedule, but unfortunately stumbled with kids holidays etc, and had to use that batch of freesites-in-waiting.

I'm now working on building up my freesite "bank" again. It feels bloody great when you have a load of freesites already built ready to submit.
