It is what it is...I don't tell people because no one asks...I've had a few friends though that found some scribbled notes on my desk and did some research and were trippin...one was looking at one of my sites and didn't know what my connection was to the site but clicked on a link and saw a variation of my name in the link when it came up and almost shit himself. He wants in on the action...but I tell them the truth, which is that it's more than just pussy and beer, it's actually accounting, creativity, dedication, and discipline...most are all talk...my wife just doesn't want her family to find out...other than that, we could give a fuck...

You really do just have to use your best judgement with who you tell. Why work people up when you can say internet marketing or web developer? I told my dad about it and he pretty much told everyone in the neighbourhood and most of the family, we all just ignore the fact.
I'm more uncomfortable when people ask to see my sites. Usually they are impressed if I do end up showing them off, but something about it just seems strange to me. -A |

I judge by whether or not they deserve the truth, and whether or not it will activate any stalker/creepy tendancies and become a safety issue -- and even then I soft-pedal the fact that I'm "talent" and generally stick to "I run a few sites". Strangers/neighbors/bank tellers get "internet marketing."
Whether or not those who get the truth get "uncomfortable" doesn't really matter to me. Quote:

Well, my start in the biz was a bit different, or maybe not, back in '96 I had just sold a deli business and was sitting around my apartment when the adult bookstore owners across the street from my fathers hobby shop asked what I was doing. When my dad told them nothing, they asked to speak with me and offered me a managers job (more like all around everything job) I said what the hell as the pay was great for what I was doing. From that position, I was able to get into some very high places in the sex sellers biz. I have been to the the factory of Nass-Toys in NYC and sat at a 20 seat conference table with 1000 different dildos and toys hanging on the wall with women demonstrating their uses and in that same factory Id watch Fetish videos being shot. It was all a trip. That being said, its much more of a "hassle" to hide the fact that you run an adult shop than anything I do online. Friends thought it was great cause I always had the latest videos and I became an in house cockbuster rental agency without late fees or charges. My mom was fine with it, and thats all that mattered to me. It was good $$ and she knew I was doing it as a biz.
After the shop sold (that was why I was hired, to bring up profits) I delved into online porn, but I also did non adult web design, so I had the out .." I do web design" and when theyd ask to see my sites I just sent them to my non adult site for my portfolio. I have friends that know I do it, and anyone who I care to tell. but because of my history with the shop, its old hat, and everyone knows that I know porn. My close family knows, others know I Design web sites. I mean it is what it is and there is $$ to be made, and if people didnt want it we all wouldnt have a job, so its gotta be OK. J-

Haha... funny story here.
 Thus far I have been telling my parents and family that I do internet marketing and web design. Unfortunately my dad thinks everyone in life is trying to lie to him and screw him over so he checks up on me incessantly.  I guess the other day he looked up the address of the office and found links to some of the porn sites. |noclue| Oh well... guess the cat's out of the bag now.All my friends know. They wouldn't be my friends if they were so up tight they didn't approve of what I do. A jobs a job and I happen to luv mine.  Anyone who thinks I'm a skank because of it can kiss my sexy ass. |

My family and in-laws all know and don't care much. It's a cultural thing, maybe, I'm not sure, we're all very secular and liberal, and porn isn't much of an issue. When it comes to friends, specifically people whose kids go to school with my kids, I am a tad more careful. Simply because I want to be the one telling this to my sons, not some kid at school (they're just 4 and 6, so plenty of time
 ). Some friends do know, others don't. It's not something I shout off the rooftops, as I also don't think it's a huge deal. People are very curious about my business and how I make money on the Internet, but fortunately, I can always talk for hours on the mainstream side of my business
