It seems to me that there is an aweful lot of "negative" space, meaning that there isn't really a selling point. There is a huge space along both sides that can contain sponsor links or adverts of some type.
Also how does the surfer know what they are clicking on with the middle directory, theres no appeal to want to click it and once ya do your at a join page. Might want to build up what the benefit is by joining, etc.
Each "room" page also doesn't utilize maximum space, there is enough sponsor cash to fill every inch of that site if needed.
I'd work on selling points, benefits of joining, what they get when they join and maximize your ability to sell by adding some similar sponsor content and ads.
