Buying a new grill

As you might remember, I had a little problem with my grill last year with some ice falling off the roof I rebuilt it and it's ok but there are some problems. This year, it's time for something new.

My old grill is gas but has he ability to cook with charcoal. I have to admit, I only used charcoal once and it was really hard to clean.

So, I am looking at this weber grill called Performer.

It uses charcoal but has a gas lighting system so there is no need for fluid. It has a catch all for the ashes and even has it's own charcoal storage.

I am also looking at the Big Green Egg. Not quite as conveient but it seems to hold heat much longer.

What do you think?

Grills have really gotten expensive. I was looking at some last weekend, and the high end ones are $1000 US and more. My favorite is still my little charcoal grill that you have to light with a match and takes forever.

If I didn't eat meat, I would still use a grill a lot. Grilled vegetables vs Not Grilled...no comparison.

I love them... everything grilled on the old school charcoal grill, got a lot of them and if we clean them asap, they don't look so ugly.. and who cares.
Another great thing is for vegetarians and normal people is the streamer, mmm they rock. For fat free, tasty meals, fish, one of my favorites. I highly recommend it for even those who have tooth problems like me due to the 8th session of radiation so far and cannot go the dentist yet, only 2 years after we are done. But those veg.s rock.
Like this just mine has 3 bowls and stronger.

plus a chopper, a blender and I am done

PS
That egg looks rock solid.

Jim, do you really need a gimmicky grill that weighs over a 200 lbs? Why would you want a big green egg any way?

The Weber kettle is by far and away the best charcoal grill ever designed. Sure, there may be other grills that can do specific tasks better but nothing is as versatile and well designed as the Weber.

The only question you should be asking is which model of the traditional Weber Kettle grill you should be buying.
