PR Dropped from 3 to 0! Huh?

This is weird as hell. In the last 3 hours, traffic has suddenly picked up to my new tgp, but PR has dropped from 3 to 0. What gives?

The index page has not been changed in any way. All pages that lead from it are all still text-linked, so google has no probs finding everything.

Also, when you put a search in for the 3 keywords which describe my kind of site, I come up ranked 2nd on both yahoo and google.

Any ideas?

Other then the Kewl factor in having a high PR as far as I can tell it has very little other value.

Google turns 5 this week.

Cleo, the only good use for PR these days seems to be getting Google to go check out other pages... and to convince other webmasters to trade links with you.

Since everyone and their cousin came up with ways to artificially create PR, Google seems to have made it disappear from the SERP calculations, probably replaced with a hidden PR number that we will never see, to keep people from fucking around so much.

PR4 seems to be the magic number that gets you botted more regularly.

Hi Jay, haven't said much (anything?) to you in the past, but I'm a big fan. Hope all works out with the bullshit the law's putting you through.

Hope you guys don't think I was trying to be cool LOL I know pr 3 sucks. I really just know jack about it, so I was concerned I'd done something wrong since the last update. The site's only been around a few weeks and I'm pretty proud of it so far; don't want to mess it up.

PR3 ain't bad. Spend some time on the text of the page and site structure while you are getting the PR higher. PR is important, but it isn't everything.

Every variation of your url will have a different PR..

For example..

www.kristian.com will have a different PR from kristian.com and www.kristian.com/index.html and kritian.com/index.html.

You may have typed it in differently each time.

You can't trust the toolbar PR. It's out of sync for months now. Also shown backlinks are not accurate. If you want to know whether Google likes your site, check your traffic stats. A properly optimized PR2 page can outrank most PR5+ pages.

Thanks for the good info, folks. I've learnt quite a bit here - by accident I've been lazy when it comes to understanding SEs, which is pretty stupid given their importance. Also thanks for the tip, Jay. I'm adding a links script to the site, so I can spend time optimising the site as I do that.

Usually basic optimizing results in nice spots on the SERPs.
- Carefully choose a keyword phrase.
- Use the keyword phrase as page title, in headings and body text close to the top and bottom of the page, as well as in ALT and TITLE attributes and meta tags.
- Instead of home and next links or linked images use keywords as anchor text in all internal links.
- Write readable, natural, non-spammy but very keyword rich body text. Use strong and em tags to emphasize the most targeted keywords. Ignore so called optimal keyword density percentages. Use your keywords often plus in slight variations within a few paragraphs of visible text.
- Don't format body text x-small. Don't hide text or links. Keep your HTML code clean and tiny, better use style sheets than repeated on the page formatting.
- Don't slice the images into many small pieces, bigger images produce less code and you may get some image traffic from SEs.
- Write more on-topic body text.
- Keep the number of links as low as possible, but don't link complete sentences or even paragraphs. Embed links in related surrounding unlinked text.
- Put the ALT text in small fonts below the bigger images too. Keep text describing an image in the same table cell as the image tag. Add visible text to every banner link.
- Use your page title in submissions. Don't repeat the same page title on one domain.
- Write fresh body text on every page.
- Aquire many inbound links with your keywords in the anchor text.
- Ignore the PR of pages linking to you.
- Ignore the PR of pages you're linking to.
- Link to nice, content rich and related pages which you like yourself.
- Write more peerless body text.
- Wait 8-10 weeks before you check your traffic stats. Log keywords by landing pages. Repeat successful stuff.
- Don't cheat the engines. Don't lie to the surfer. Deliver what you promise, better overdeliver and underpromise.
- Write more unique body text.
- Look at every page before you upload it. If you don't like it as a surfer, trash it or improve it.

This list is not complete, just a few items from the top of my head. HTH.

A quick shot:

The gallery is worth a little optimizing, I'd add some body text at the bottom, using her name and attributes often, having her name linked to the first tour page.

In not decorated linked text links I'd use U tags to underline at least 'click here'.

On the tour pages I'd put in ALT text fairly describing the images, even the thumbs. E.g. <IMG SRC="http://www.tomsthumbs.com/ericia-campbell/images/ericiacampbell3page1_15.jpg" ... ALT="Erica Campell spreading her long sexy legs to show me her delicious shaved pussy"> or so.

File names like erica-campbell-nude-on-page-1.jpg do better than ericiacampbell1page1_14.jpg

May be it's worth it to add a keyword like 'nude' or so to the page title.

Ensure each and every text link leading to the tour contains her name and another important keyword used on the tour page.
