How To Promote Amateur Site

Hi,

Me and a friend of mine are setting up a new (very big) amateur video website.

The thing is, he already has a fairly successful website with over 10K daily visitors.

However, we want to do this site togethet, make it bigger and more successful.

The reason I need help is the following; we decided he would take care of all the coding, design, etc. and I'd get started with promotion. It took him a few years with his first site to get things rolling because he too doesn't know how to promote an adult site the right way.

I know you can buy traffic, which is supposed to be bad? It's what I heard..

You can't really promote on Facebook/Twitter as it's not allowed..

You can watermark videos you post on PornTube, torrentsites, etc.

What else is there??

If you are building a pay site. Here's a few ways to generate traffic.

Freesites:
You can look up Cleo and Tommy for quality partner accounts.

Galleries:
You can submit to 100's of sites using auto submitters like Chameleon Submitter and Dream Submitter.
This type of traffic is slowly dying though but there's a few sales in there.
Its wise to buy a few quality Submit Passes or submit to thehun.

Blogs:
This is the SE friendly way and it's very easy to build them using wordpress.
If you are on a tight budget there's free hosted blogs like Sensual Writer and Thumblogger.
Once you build the blog you can submit them to Blog Directories.

Purchasing Traffic:
Buying traffic is an art to some webmasters. This may require some trial and error on your part. The person who told you it's not the right thing to do. Either they bought the wrong type (feeder) or just did a test.
Banner spots seem to work best when buying traffic to your paysite.

Google ads convert very well if you know your target key words. You need to do your due diligence and research your niche/competition.

No problem. There's many people here that can and will give you solid advice. Like they did for me 3 years ago.

Post your domains and some stats. Maybe some ideas that are tumbling in your head too. Webmasters here will steer you in the right direction.

This is a really great thread.

I can vouch for blogs. They still bring in the sales with a little bit of work. Just choose your keywords carefully so you dont have too much competition.

I'm still doing a lot of brainstorming and what not. I've ordered a server which will be ready next week.

I've made notes I'd like to implement on the site which I've been on other websites.

Judging by what you guys are saying Google and keyword optimization is still a killer way to get traffic in this business? Even with all the competition? It's pretty hard finding a golden nugget keyword in this industry, it took ages to even find a good domain!

*EDIT* Also, any other tips, tricks, remarks and suggestions are welcome. My partner knows a lot but he's a busy guy. I'm open to all the knowledge on this board! Feel free to share, it's very much appreciated

Yes, the domain will be LoveAmateurs.com - it's going to be a tube kind of site with about 6K amateur videos.

Free signup possible which gives members 3 videos to watch. Then the signup fee gives them full access.. to about 2/3K videos. We will be having updates every now and then adding new videos until we reach our 6K limit
