Hey Cleo
Am I right in thinking that you are in the Ft Lauderdale area? My last job was writing auto insurance software in that area. We lived in Lauderhill and worked in Plantation.
I hated every minute of it. I'm a small town kinda guy. We moved to Tennessee to get away from the urban sprawl... |

We do a lot of kayaking and snorkeling so living next to the ocean surrounded by waterways is makes living here great.
I would not want to live in the west side of town out in Plantation or Lauderdalehill. |

I've been to Florida a lot, and it can be a paradise or a shithole depending on where you are. Beeches are generally very nice if you like that lifestyle. Lots of people I have known over the years have moved here to avoid taxes and/or retire. I've never been south (Miami, etc), but I have heard it's like visiting a foreign country.

Miami isn't south Florida, it's north Cuba.

Actually living here is more like living in the Tower of Babel. My partner speaks three languages and can recognize a few more but often we are surrounded by people speaking a plethora of languages and we don't have a clue what they speaking.
I love kayaking or sailing around Biscayne Bay. |

One good thing about south Florida... The second largest Jewish population in the US, means there are fantastic delis and wonderful bagels. A large Cuban population means delicious Cuban sandwiches and coffee. There are Jamaican jerk restaurants... Yum.
Second best place I have ever lived for food. (I'm a Louisiana native, so Cajun food is #1 for me). |
