Fitness partner (or partners) wanted

I am weak-willed, undisciplined, and disgusted with myself about being so.

Now that I've got that out of the way...

Is there anyone here who is interested in forming some type of fitness/exercise alliance? I cannot be alone in the fact of all this chair time causing my ass to spread like spilled maple syrup. Hopefully I'm not the only one who has a hard time doing any thing about it with no structure.

And I really have a hard time. I have a treadmill not 6 feet away from my desk, I have a range of yoga dvd's, I have one of those Chuck Norris Total Gym things, and I have boxing equipment.

Alas, they all have a heavy layer of dust on them. Meanwhile I sit here feeling worse and worse about myself.

So I decided to post here, and see if anyone is in the same boat. If so, perhaps if we were accountable to each other, or something like that, it would help.

I've been going to the gym every other day for over five years. I started going after I was a victim of multiple gunshot wounds and put on over thirty pounds while recovering. I feel great, weight has come off and I've never felt better in my life.

I went to the gym today. I actually tried to go yesterday but they had not reopened yet.

The first six months was hell, but then something wonderful happened and I became addicted to working out. All my life I've fought my addictive personality but now my addiction is a good thing so not only do I not have to deal with fighting my cravings for what I'm addicted to but my addiction is good for me.

BTW, did you use to live in south Florida? Your avatar looks just like a Selena that I knew some time ago.

Ah, well, you are a better person than I then, AlphaWolf.

And while I am aware there are lots of other places for such a thing on the net, I thought to perhaps find one where I was able to be open about who I am and what I do.

As to the real gym suggestion, that would entail a 60 plus mile round trip on my part, and that just isn't feasible.

~nods in empathy~ I've got the addictive thing going on too...in a bad way. To replace the negative with the postive is a constant struggle.

One I don't always win. If I come up with 50-50 odds, I feel good. ~smiles~

Nope, never lived in FL at all. Spent a few years of my 20's in SC, where I actively embraced the cocaine 80', but that was as close as I got.

Thank you for posting. That is inspiring. If you could do it, perhaps I can too.

OK. NP. You get a basic free weight set to replace the thingie you have now.

It's whatever floats *your* boat though.

Post on some of the other boards if you haven't already.

Yeah I did the cocaine thing to. I think I've pretty gone through the whole alphabet of drugs, can't think of any that I haven't done and free basing was right up there with the really evil ones.

Best I can tell my body is either addicted to something or trying to find something to get addicted to so working out seems to appease it and I'm finally rid of cravings other then a craving to workout which seems to be actually good for my life.

Well I still do coffee and LOL

Actually I have no life and find the whole concept of mingling with other humans in person way too messy and inconvenient so I spend a lot of time on the boards.

I've been walking on the tread mill for 40-45 min every day (currently watching 1 episode of Battlestar Galactica every day) & watching what I eat & 27 lbs since mid May - point being that just a few simple adjustments can make a lot of differance.

I heard that DrBizzaro has lost a couple pounds since Miami as well

Well thats the first thing..wanting to do it! So just step up on that treadmill for 5 minutes a day to start! You will start motivating yourself..get some good tunes going as well.

I have tried again last year to go to the gym, but i couldnt lett my mind free, i do this bizz, have 2 kids a 7 year old boy and a 10 year old daughter, i am with my guy for 20 years now, to much kids things on my mind when i go to the gym......with kids you have to run between school things. sports things and MOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM things.lol. still my hubby is concerned i dont sport enough, my sport is chasing my kids all day when they come home, i have to say webmasters bizz indeed stopped me from moving more, but i am working to change that, now i only need to find some time to do it

I have started doing yoga at home. I got a great DVD that has 4 different levels and is great. Not only am I losing weight, I've lost almost 40 pounds since May, but I feel so much better and have more energy. Plus afterwards it's like all of my worries and stress are gone for a bit. I love it.
