New Links Site Help!

Hi All,

I'm in the process of setting up a links directory (like the world needs another one!). So far it's only got links from some of the paysites.

Firstly, can y'all please have a look see what you think?

I want to be able to submit it to other links lists, but I guess I should have some free sites listed in there first?

I've got a few ideas for adding some nice free content in, but any suggestions appreciated!

Finally, if anyone knows where the script error is coming from, I'd surely appreciate a wee pointer!

You've got a good start. Though the first page or index is kind of confusing, it's like there should be an enter link. Maybe make a main page to link to? Just strange the way it is. Some surfer might not know what to do.

Yes, it does help to have some listings.

Adding free content? Well, dont want to give away more than you need to, want them to pay for it. A links lists content is suppose to be the links.

I did kinda wonder about the index page, goes against what the surfer expects to see perhaps.

I was thinking of adding free content to try and get some Google image traffic into some galleries. But I'll concentrate on the links first.

There's definately some scripting error happening somewhere when viewed through my browser (I get the wee yellow exclamation mark on every page).

If anyone knows why, answers on a postcard to me pls!

Looks good, I like the cleaniness of the layout.

I would considered using a Mod_Rewrite to redo your cfm URLs so that they are more search engine friendly.

Another thing is that you should link your logo to the main page. Currently, there is no easy way to go back to the first page. Other than that, it looks good.

Where's the Enter Link?? -
Time to switch hats... you WANT people to enter, not like a FS where you ship them off to sponsor asap.
Lot's of java errors..
Do NOT open links in a new window.. name one big LL doing that?
Add hundreds into the categories.
Seperate PAY from FREE and make the difference obvious.

Like the layout.
Make sure the search and everything else works

I'll have to fiddle around with the template a bit for the links / return to home page stuff.

The site is run by a content management system, so cos I have no free links in, nothing shows up to differentiate yet.

As for the mod re-write, I've no idea ho to do that at them moment, so I'll have to "enhance" my technical capabilities quite substantially (or pay a dude to do it for me!).

There are quite a bit of Mod_Rewrite tutorials if you do a google search.

Some CMS's i've seen have SE friendly url add-on or hacks. Check the place you got your CMS, should have a add-on type section or links. Usually easy to add it on, rather than programing or scripting it yourself.
