Thumbs down Yet Another Program Spamming

And the loser is.....houstonbooty.com

I don't mind link exchange requests, even if they're obviously mass mailed to everyone on the planet. I don't mind getting an email or two from a program I haven't heard of before. Last wednesday I got EIGHT fucking spams from these people in one day. I was going to let that slide until I got more today.

I've used my webmaster@ email addy to sign up for tons of programs and such, so I expect to get announcement emails, requests to promote programs and that sort of thing. That's business as usual as far as I'm concerned...but ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Does anyone really think that eight emails in one day is going to do anything but piss off a webmaster?

They've even got some sorta cool niche sites that I might have promoted in some of my micro niche cats. Before I got the other 7 emails that day. Now it seems I'm on their SPAM list, so they're on my SHIT list.

I'm telling you guys. When I open a new program, I am going to spam the shit out of every webmaster list I have Direct mail marketing is the best form of advertising there is. A few bad eggs made it a bad thing.

That's actually my point Jim...I love getting an email or two from a new program...but eight in one day? I personally feel that crosses the line between marketing and spam. When I see that many emails from the same sender in one day and it's someone I don't already know or do biz with they all get deleted.

Sending a couple of professionally written announcements is OK. Acting like we're old friends, sending huge amounts of emails or spamming to addresses that you shouldn't be will loose business these days.

Just like submissions, there's a right way and a wrong way. Making an announcement and we can do business. Abuse that priviledge and we will stop.

The worst are the mortgage offerings, aren't they?
The only spam that really pisses me off are the ones that fool me into opening them.
