I was working as a medical researcher for a market-research firm here in the Philippines. It was on a Tuesday that time when I first saw the news at CNN. I'm pretty devastated coz I have friends in New York that time. Glad that they were out of the area when it happened

I was still living in Austin Texas then and was on my way to work, I heard about the first plane on the radio. When i arrived at work everyone was watching CNN and all the other news channels, I was working for a broadband/cable/phone company at the time so we had a lot of channels to watch. I remember watching palestinians celebrate when the towers fell, they kept showing this one woman doing that weird muslem yodeling they do to celebrate. I have hated them all since then.

I was sitting right here as usual. I remember all of the stuff before, the second plane hitting... the confusion... flipping between news channels... talking to friends and family. But, to this day,the first thing that always enters my mind, and the thing that bothered me the most, was when the first Tower started to come down. I just sat here staring at the TV... mouth open... and then the second one starting coming down. RIP

I was coming from school with my bike, crossing the street when I met a friend who told me something about airplanes, towers and terrorists in the USA. I drove home put the tv on and watched it the whole day I think.

I was in Vegas to work on a trade show.
That day of the show got canceled because of the attacks in NY, and there had apparently been a bomb threat to the convention center also.. The next day, the show was on but there were not many people there so they just shut it down. Planes were grounded and people were stuck there.. luckily I was driving there so I could still get home. Very surreal.. |

If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of progress?

5 years ago on September 11, I was on an airplane on my way to the UK - few hours into the flight we were redirected to Chicago - nothing was said to us as passengers, however I was sitting in the back and overhearing the stewardesses talking with horror on their faces I got pretty frightened so I asked one what was going on and she told me that the flight is being cancelled and landing because of a crashed plane in NY.. she didnt know more than that at the time and only one tower had been hit at that time.
When we landed it was chaos - every single board at the airport showed every flight as "cancelled" - and nothing was being told to the passengers at that time... they couldnt tell us when we would be leaving so I sat at the airport for hours ... then I finally decided I need to find either a car, bus or some other transport to get back t Buffalo (where I was living at the time) - not one car was available in the whole city, no buses had room, no way to get out of the city, so i went to look for a hotel (thinking I would be getting out of the city next day on a plane), the Hotels all were booked and the few that were not were charging DOUBLE for the night so I had no choice. Ended up staying there for 3 days with NO luggage because we were not allowed to return to the airport - I finally did manage to secure a rental car but that also was a rip off because it was a one way rental.. all in all I hadnt even left USA and I had already spent about $1500 for the trip. I never made it to UK till December - and for some strange reason I have never been afraid to fly due to terrorists.. if its my time to go there is no reason to wrorry about it. |

I was still in the UK and working for a degree at staffs uni. I had just applied for a placement job in switzerland (which i got) and was working part time driving for the local ambulance service. We delivered sterile instruments and drugs to local doctors and pharmacies in the area and did occasional blood runs to outlying hospitals when req'd. I had just finished work when i heard the news and sat glued to the tv for the rest of the day. It still leaves me in awe of the destruction to this day and the footage is as hard to believe now as it was when it all occurred.

I know this is kind of off topic.. but did anyone actually watch the president's speech last night? I watched part of it.. but the whole time I was watching in my head all i could see was the Chancellor speaking from that huge screen from V for Vendetta. of course after the 1st 5 minutes of bullshite he started sounding just like the parents from Charlie Brown & co.
