Freesite Newbie Questions

Hi all,

I have been working with galleries and TGP traffic for the last couple of years or so and though about trying the freesites. So here are the questions:

- I have noticed many people link the thumbnails to html pages instead to the jpeg pictures and put ads on there too. Wanted to ask if this is widely acceptable or if this is acceptable to few LLs only.
- Also noticed that some people have a splash page after theh warning page and before the main page. Is this common practice?
- In TGPs and galleries it is not allowed to change a single byte in the gallery page after this has been posted. Does the same apply in freesites? Just though if I could make small changes to my future freesites for se optimization purposes (after these have been posted).
- As far as I have seen, there's not such a plethora of LLs compared to TGPs, so I am thinking about starting submitting to 6 LLs. I guess I can answer myself the question -> the more LLs the more traffic - the more traffic the more sales. How big are your LL lists?
- How hard is it to get listed to LLs? With galleries I have partner accounts and a big list to submit to so I always get some good traffic. With LLs I have no clue if I make a freesite and get 0 or tons traffic. What's your oppinion on that?

Guess that's all for now... Here's my first attempt for a freesite:

comments/suggestions are much appreciated

Thank's all,
Mark

- no, only a few LL's will accept this
- no, common practice is index, main, 2 gallery pages
- no, you can change your pages as long as they keep applying to the LL rules you've submitted them to.
- some submit to only 12 LL's others to 150. You really got to figure out for yourself what you want to do. Let's say 95% of the traffic comes from 5% of the LL's. But then again, those other 5% of traffic can and will make you sales also.
- if you stick to the rules you shouldn't have much trouble getting listed. but these days it seems hard for the webmasters to stick to the LL's rules

Very good first freesite try, just a few remarks:
- That bottom sponsor table could be seen as 4 seperate outgoing links by some LL owners, most only allow 3 on 1 page.
- Both your links to the galleries go to gallery23.html

Clean site.

I'm doing the opposite. Going from Freesites to Galleries.

Link to HTML pages...some will have a problem with.

Splash page? Well, it goes warning->main page->pic gallery pages.

Yeah- On freesites you get more advertising. Typically 3 links per page.

On warning page as long as you don't have "ENTER" on any banner or text except the enter to your gallery links you will be OK.

No 'blind links' either- banners that look like clickable thumbs.

The splash page as you call it is where you present your gallery links. More importantly, it's where you advertise.

So, you get 2 pages before anyone even gets to your content to sell the surfer.

Changing things. Well, it'd been stated here as long as you DO NOT change the content at all and stick to the LL's rules you can swap out banners and sponsors and change text...as long as you stick to the rules of every LL you have recips to.

There's not really a plethora of lists that will bring you a lot of traffic.

Google went a bit wacky, but link lists do pretty well in the rankings.

If you were building a gallery that had teen content and was promoting a teen site you could go to Google and see the lists that rank well for teen porn:

http://www.google.com/search?q=teen+porn

They'll get good traffic.

Recips between 6-24 depending on your layout, design and content. There are a couple threads here on how many recips per site.

It's not hard at all to get listed at LL's if you follow the rules. Many list within 1 or 2 days. A few take a couple weeks and a handfew take a month or 2.

It's sorta the opposite with TGP's where it's all confusing and all partner.

Though, LL's still decline about 50% of all submissions. Often, use of saturated sponsor content, but also just plain not reading the rules.

This is known as the link list board. So, you are in the right place.

Oh. On your site. It's super clean. But you get 3 links per page. You may also use basic mouseovers like 'http://www.twistys.com to hide your affil code. Nothing but domain name though.

Er...min 20 pics, 10 per page.

Good luck.

Good Luck

From one Newbee to Another,

I like your work. Here’s my experience at the sites you’re trying to get listed at.

1) Tommy’s Bookmark’s – Need to pay $50 for 5 links.
2) Smut Gremlins – I submitted a ton of stuff to him and I have found no trace in my stats he has every looked at one of my submissions. He sends back a nice email though, thanking you for you submission. I hope I am just on the waiting list and it takes a while, I don’t know, hopefully somebody reading this can provide more information.
3) Richards Realm – Same as above, except they tell you where they are concerning looking at material and they are a month behind.
4) Cleo’s – Gave me some listing when I first started, but then stopped, I keep submitting and hoping. Please!
5) Persian Kitty – WOW!, WOW!, WOW!, I waited to submit to her until I was getting picked up by some of the other big sites and only submitted once, I thought I filled out the form wrong too! The next day I get an email and she lists me. She delivers HUGE traffic, unreal. Her email is very business like, but its also funny, if you get her since of humor, which I did.

Other Comments: There are some other big sites not on your list that will pick you up quickly and give you huge traffic if you get accepted. They are getting to know me know and I am getting more listings. Look around, a lot of them are reading your stuff on this board. Don’t miss out on the mid-size sites. They list you quicker and deliver consistent traffic that adds up. Although, there are some other mid-size sites that read and write on this board that are on auto-pilot and have got their traffic to where they want and don’t even look at your submissions. So, it’s a lot of trial and error with the mid-size sites figuring out who is still is working at it, and who is on vacation checking their stats. On the other hand, you will find some huge sites where the original owners are still actively involved and can provided huge traffic as well as great advice on this board. I am still amazed at who answers some of my dumb questions.

Hope this helps a little, Good Luck,
Bill

Thank's a lot guys, you've all been very helpful.

As for my small LL list, next thing I will do is to look around and grow this up before I start submitting. I am thinking about starting with 16 LLs. Another question arises though: It'd be better for me to have them all in the same warning page (4x4 table) or is this a bad practice?

Thank's again,
Mark

Yupz, just put them on one page if you like. But when you start submitting to more than 16 lists I'd make two pages.
