I've been thinking for a while that one of the possible profit paths out of this free porn problem is story.

Get some writers in on the movie making and make movies with a more real feeling script, or a script that more totally reflects the deep hooks of the niche.

When relatively bad free porn is so available, a better quality could still sell.

But, profit margins on production would be less.

@Bill - I agree that a lot more sponsors need to use shooting scripts that include the needed dialogue, the required looks and attitudes, the costume dos and don'ts, the necessary reactions, and many other items that key off of the deeper hooks of specific niches. Too much porn is being produced that has almost no chance of influencing a visitor to become a paying member.

The sad truth is many programs have no idea at all what the deep hooks are in most or even all of the niches their sites cover. They keep spending money producing products without ever understanding the needs that drive the consumers of those products. From what I see around the Net in 2011, most of the porn being created is absolutely not worth paying for. Which means that most of it is therefore not worth wasting any time promoting.

And of course you're also correct that increased production costs come with this.

Which unfortunately means that most sponsors who'll spend more on production will offset their increased costs by using cookies with short lifetimes, adding email collectors to their affiliate tours, using 2-step join forms to capture the surfers' emails before they see the real join page, sending mailings with discount offers to the visitors you recently sent to their tours, and lots of other little tricks which ensure that affiliates don't wind up making much more money even on porn which converts better.

A better written "story line" is a nice idea, but that also requires performers that can do some acting. That's a skill that's been lacking in this biz for some time now. Being able to eagerly take a huge cock up the ass gets a girl far more work than being able to deliver her lines without sounding like she's reading from cue cards.

I've been trying to assess the various production companies and their associated paysites to see wether or not there are any that might take up the idea of producing movies with better stories.

I'm still in an early stage with this, but so far I can't see really likely candidates.

There are the companies that already do a bit of story based production - kinkydollars for example.

"Reality" was supposed to be about story, but usually isn't, or teh story is of the crudest lamest sort - the actors made a kind of "nod" to the story, once in a while, but anyone watching the movie can feel it's just bullshit.

It's probably going to take us going thru a complete devaluation of content before the market forces make 'better story based porn' possible as a business model.

My opinion, get one of the hottest women anyone has ever seen and you could make some of the driest most uneventful porn and it would sell, just as long as the lighting and camera work is flattering. But baring that I kinda disagree about making a movie. I'm probably merely basing it on seeing some really bad versions of that. Some of the more convincing ones where you start to think "wait, is this a porn movie... they aren't really going to fuck are they?" are more interesting than something I think people will flock to. But at the end of the day I think it's mainly about the quality of the female and how they hook in the average surfer's attention.

I will say though that there could be a lot better editting in porn. A lot of time those intros to porn where you see a lot of quick shots is better than the actual scenes. There's certainly a place for long drawn out scenes, but sometimes it's stuff that drags on way too long.
