Seminars you're most interested in?
For those of you headed to Vegas in a couple of days, which seminars are you planning to attend? I imagine everyone here will be at the traffic panel to see what trade secrets will be revealed by Greenguy. |goodidea
I'm most interested in "Taking it to the extreme", "Podcasting, blogging, and beyond", and "Porn under attack". Here's the list: http://www.internext-expo.com/semina...riptions.shtml (Don't forget to bring your water bottles and snacks to the show, and have a safe trip out, everyone!) |

I am not going as most know but when I did attend shows, I think I went to one seminar. And that was because Greenie was there. If I was going, I would go to the traffic seminar so I could make faces at him
I just looked at who was going to be on some of the panels and I would have to go to Greenies first for the reason mentioned above and then day 2, Taking It to the Extreme. Nothing better than watching max hardcore getting pelted with cups and various snacks and then later a good ass kicking |

But really, a lot of these panelists don't belong anyplace where advice is given.

I'm not 100% sure how much advice you'll be getting from me as far as trade secrets for generating traffic, as the description of the panel is this:
Date: Thursday, January 5, 2006 Time: 2:00pm – 3:00pm Panel: PLAYING IN TRAFFIC: Who's converting, where they're doing it, and how it's being done. Description: Traffic is the Holy Grail for all online companies. Based on the AVN Online monthly feature of the same name, “Playing in Traffic” will go beyond the typical “where to get traffic” discussion to tell you exactly what's converting, where it's converting, and how it's being done. Learn who pays best among straight, gay, ethnic, PPS, revshare programs, and more. These panelists have a track record of creating and maintaining robust sources of traffic and making it pay, and they're here to tell you how they do it. Moderator: Mike Hawk, Smashbucks.com Panelists: Jason Quinlan, OCCash Rick Munyong, TheBestPorn.com Lindsay Probin, CuriousCash.com Q’on, OnProbation.com Charles Hentrich, WildLineCorp.com Mark Jenkins, Greenguy & Jim LTD I'm probably going to do a half assed stats run today just to get overall totals from whoever I did a decent amount of money with in 2005 - but it'll just be conversion ratios (no per click numbers) So I'll just be spewing out numbers for programs, since we're not going to be talking about generating traffic. I personally do plan to go to as many seminars as I can & I'm looking forward to it |

That traffic panel sounds as if it has been created for paysite owners, not the webmasters who drive the traffic towards them.
Here's what Gg should say whenever asked about traffic: Buy low, sell high. Or just, "Denny Crane". (If you don't watch Boston Legal, you won't get that bit.)

The panels have creative names this year, I hope they are informative and not just sales pitches for the pannelists.
One day they will hopefully have workshops available rather then just seminars, there's one for the suggestion box! |

The one I did 2 years ago was decent - almost all Q & A from the people in the audience. I guess this year, we have 45 min of discussion & yapping to each other & then 15 min of Q & A from the audience.

I've only been to 2 seminars because I often feel that many panelists are there to promote other services and don't have a proven track record of success on the topic.
Obviously GG knows traffic and at least one other panelist there does as well but I'm not so sure about 1/2 of them. That being said. 1 seminar I went to was interesting while the other was a waste of time. |

I didn't go to any seminars when I went in 2004, so I've resolved to attend a few instead of spending most of my time wandering around being shy and having strippers thrust penis pills in my face. |

furrygirl - I would (and plan to) talk to anyone about anything that I have knowledge about. I'm helpful like that
My point was that the "Traffic Panel" is not set up for me to talk about traffic generation, just who to send it to, as well as who not to send it to, once you have it. It's more of a "Who's Converting For You?" panel IMHO |

In 2004, I paid the extra bucks to attend the seminars. Honestly, I found it boring to listen to a half dozen egotistical folks telling me about their penis size. If someone would assemble a panel with Greenguy, Tommy, Danger Dave, Linkster, etc, I would rent an air ambulance to get there and pay good money to attend. Hell, let Useless Warrior moderate and I would throw in a tip. |

I dont know how to get traffic, But I DO KNOW AVN, and heres the cliff notes version of what we will learn at the traffic seminar: (and since you dont have a product to sell to this crowd, I am NOT expecting this from your ten minutes Greenguy, this is just speculation based on past AVN seminars)
The only way you can get traffic to your sites is to pay for it. And my company is one of the most progressive and cutting edge companies when it comes to buying your traffic HEY - HERE's SOMETHING WE SHOULD ALL DO AT EVERY SEMINAR: Every one asks any panelist who has some sort of affliate program "What is the average conversion rate percentage for your affliates selling your content?" You will Never ever ever ever ever ever get an answer. The studder mumble will sound like Bush talking about the war....... Oh to actually reply to the TOPIC you asked for: I'm going to day 1's Playing in Traffic Podcasting, Blogging & Beyond and Upwardly Mobile on day two I'm expecting self-promotion bullshit, but since at times I am wrong about how the world is, I am going anyway Last edited by guestcam; 2006-01-03 at 12:25 AM.. |

Unfortunately I'm not going as the budget says "don't spend a dime unless my survival depends on it", but if I where going I'd want a "How to kick start a new site and make profit before losing your nerves" seminar ... and obviously the "Podcasting, blogging, and beyond" you mention...

Oh and 'as clearly as' is also qualified because if the loud hum of a convention halls chatter can interfer with your hearing then you are fucked. Cant turn the pa up any louder than it is now cuz it will feedback. Oh by the way, the AVN AEE seminars - THOSE are in their own seperate rooms, even behind closed doors from the convention show rooms. I want a refund of my seminar fee. I think every one who paid for internext seminars are due a refund of that fee. AVN - like a malicious dialer program but instead of intended for surfers its used for industry webmasters |

Only thing i have heard about the seminars is that they are just a thinly veiled attempt to push one's own program/product. Have there been any worthwhile seminars run in the past ?
