Just to explain to everyone...over the next few days, all pages are going to be using php includes. Meaning the headers and footers will be coming from a single file. This should speed everything up much much more. The newsletter is currently using the includes. This is why I am asking.

Yeah- Moz Firebird fine, even Netscape 4.7 works- though it has it's graphics hiccups, nothing a 4.7 user should mind at all.
Opera- dunno. But if something is functional in NS 4.7 it should be pretty good in the later browsers aside from particular quirks. Mac people would need to chime in though with Safari or whatever thingie they have these days. What are this boards broswer and OS stats anyways, Jim? Just curious. |

All the way from Room 101
|
It looks fine using everything I got Jim
I think Alphawolf is asking the percentages regarding operating systems and browsers for users of this board.

GG,
Pretty heavy Netscape usage. Stats slanted a bit more to the geeks who would be typical users here. Win 3.x - the thing is still out there in droves. B4 I got into web design I was co team lead of Installations of new computer systems within a large Hospital system. Mostly, Win 3.x "upgrading" to Windows NT workstation. A few VIP's got Win2K. And the ETA to complete the upgrades was appx 4 years. It's always interesting to see these stats and how well they reflect the user base. |

I'm a Mozilla user, but I opened Safari to see if everything looked ok and it did.
Not sure what I was looking for. The newsletter page looked the same, what was different? |

Cleo - as long as the newletter page looked the same, then it's all good

GG,
Cool deal. I was wondering if there was a different set of stats for 'adult' sites which sounds silly, but now I know. Stats are our friend. |

The newsletter page is using a php include. Meaning the Header and Footer are being drawn from a different page. This will make changing the entire site very very easy next time. We will have 3 files to change instead of over 200. Of course to do this...we now have over 200, closer to 300 pages to change. This should be done by end of week. Maybe faster with search and replace. |

Yeah that is how I build all my pages now. Before that I used SSI, but I've pretty much changed over to php since I can go across domains and servers that way.
PHP includes rocks. |

Ahhh ... sweet pity. Where would my love life be without it?
|
Usually if i'm getting errors in IE on a page that I can't seem to use correctly b/c of coding problems, I'll switch to Mozilla.
Then it seems to work fine.

Well now all the buttons on the top row are making the board too wide for my browser window so now I have to scroll sideways.
