How does CCBill tracking work?

Call anyone tell me how CCBill tracks referrer sales? I don't see any cookies being created or information in the URL after entering a site through a CCBill affiliate link. How do they track sales? IP address?

Hello ADK, maybe I can be of some assistance here.

When someone clicks on the banner code a cookie is set on their machine. If for some reason we are unable to set the cookie the affiliate ID will be associated with the surfers IP and we will track it that way. The transaction will then be associated with the affiliate ID whether it is a successful transaction or not and the affiliate given credit.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

-Paul

ok lets say I send surfers to a paysite that encodes the cookie
http://refer.ccbill.com/cgi-bin/clic...0000&PA=515599

and the surfer doesnt buy then tomorrow he ends up at the same pay site from someone else banner, who gets credit and what if he visits another paysite altoghter

I got a feelin some webmasters are playing games with these cookies to get credit for other people sales

I believe the webmaster can set it. When I looked yesterday I found everything from 1-3 days.

it does not work 100% of the time, I have lost a lot of business ref wm to CCBill programmes.

This is something I bring up with them each time I meet anyone to do with CCBill.

Their solution rocks, dont get me wrong its perfect for entry level paysite owners, anyone doing over 10K should be managing their own processing

Same thing here.

But so far CCBill seems to be the best thing going for the smaller sites.

The issue with CCbill is they have no competition, as they pay out on time people know that its easy to attract partners to build their programme.

The long term issue is with the new accounts there are acepting, I see a number of sites each week which DO NOT comply with Visa obsence rules. Now if they continue to develop their business this way then sooner or later the whole deck of cards will come crashing down.

Rule of thumbe for any site owners out when it comes to processing - If you process around $20K pcm & 60 - 65% of your traffic is non affilate based you need to look more closely at your billing partners.

Another point - in the future there will be no such thing as IPSP each merchant will need their own merchant account then will use a gateway, my view an that of others within processing world is CCbillEU will become just that - a gateway. This is why Verotel have moved to the ticket club, yep people are bitching though get used to it as its all going to end up this way, they were just first to comply.

Also don't listen to all the crap that people spurt on about with Visa / MC not wanting adult business, both have active projects to win more business in this space, the stumbling block is that the banks see porn as a branding issue not high risk.

Billing is like everything else if you research and compare solutions you will quickly find that 3rd party processing really is a dead duck and most certainly not future proof.

Swedguy is right, the sponsor can set it for anything from 1 to whatever. cd34; ours is set for way longer than 3 days.

Tommy; if your surfer clicks on the link you provided, AND then clicks later on someone else's link (during the life of your cookie) that also contains http://refer.ccbill.com/cgi-bin/clicks.cgi?CA=924292-0000
the credit for a sale then goes to the newest cookie (for it's preset lifespan).

Hope that helps

What about when you use a sponsors hosted gallery and add your ccbill id. How can you be sure you are credited properly?

You can't - this is why I think porn is high risk ;-)
