Suggestions for blog software that uses that lowest resources?
So, I want to take a look at ways of doing blogs that put the lowest amount of strain on a server. I was wondering if anyone had experimented with the other blog scripts and found them to be a lot less demanding than wordpress.
Or perhaps ways of configuring wordpress that accomplish the same goal. So I thought I'd ask here - anybody found blogging scripts that are significantly leaner than wordpress? |

While I haven't done any real testing... it seems to me blogging platforms that output html pages would be the ones adding the least amount of drain on system resources.
Thingamablog is a popular desktop platform that does that. Moveable Type would be another one I've played around with both and if simple, fast and basic is what your looking for then I'd go with Thingamablog |

I use wordpress. One day my host shut my site down due to strain on their server. I'm on a shared virtual hosting account at hostgator.
Basically I think something attacked my site, like some sort of robo automatic thing that tried to post a thousand comments. They suggested I install a plugin called wp-supercache. Haven't had a problem since. Hope that helps.

Don't run Apache and MySQL on the same physical server, and you won't have issues with wordpress at all.
Find a good webhost that uses H-Sphere for its control panel, and has a dedicated mysql server, and a dedicated mail server, and dedicated web server. |

Also, tickler posted an htaccess mod for permalinks that not only should speed up WP, it should also reduce the load on the server

Actually, I forgot about babeblogger. I agree it's a pretty good script and pretty light.

Personally, I like Habari which has a built in caching functionality so you don't have to futz around with plugins. Not quite as powerful or quantity of plugins as WordPress tho.
