Hello peoples, question for AW stat users

Hi all

Got a question about AWstats.

Does your stats update live when you hit the update now link at the top of the page?

I just got new hosting and had to pay to have AWstats for my stats and I cannot get live stats, and I feel kind of blind without them.

Don't want to go off on my new hosting if this is how AWstats works. But if you are supposed to get live stats then I will go off, cause I got fed some shit already.

Are you kidding me? You should not be CHARGED for awstats!! It is free.

To answer your question though, most control panels have an "Update Now" button for AWSTATS so you can update it more often than the host has scheduled (normally once a day).

Hope that helps. I would seriously make sure your host isn't charging you for something that shoudl be free.

Yes at the top of your stats page, there should be a link to update now. This can be turned off through, and I am going to assume they turned it off.

Pretty crazy that they freaking charged you to install them.. checked out your host, and I guess I wouldn't see them being one that would charge for something so simple.

I am in the process of sending a support ticket right now.

I knew that it is supposed to update live cause they initially said that it was turned off and needed to turn it on. Then they told me there stats updated once a day.

Just my luck, have a 700% increase in my new hosting service(other host was very cheap) only to have them jacking me off.

I have installed that software on my own box. In order to update it from a webpage you need to have permission to run a script with in the CGI_BIN. all this can also be done from a simple bat file placed in a AT job on the box. I have mine running that way and it updates hourly. I can always log on to the box and manully run the bat file. But you really should not be paying for that software. The only thing they should be charging you for it if you are looking to get locations from your visitors down to city. There are free version that will give you access to a 95% acurate database of countries, if you pay for access to the 99% database you also can use the PM modual for cities which can be useful I would think if you are really looking to narrow down some serious advertising. Or block out stuff. But otherwise set up took me 1 hour maybe you paid for tech time.

If your host is running WHM/CPanel try to edit the file
/home/yourusername/tmp/awstats/awstats.yourdomain.com.conf
find the line
AllowToUpdateStatsFromBrowser=0
and set it to
AllowToUpdateStatsFromBrowser=1

then you should see that update button in awstats
