A spike in traffic from TheHun????

I noticed a strange almost-vertical spike on my traffic graphs a few moments ago, so I checked AWStats and see that I have a gallery listed on TheHun! Eh? What? How?

I'm not complaining, but how did this happen? Somebody has taken an old freesite gallery I made and submitted it to TheHun? What would be their motivation for that? Is this a usual type of thing?
It's not one of my better galleries, and also the sponsor I was promoting is one of the ones I have really struggled to convert with with LL traffic.
The Gallery Is Here

Surprising but rather satisfying, and quite scary. It'll be interesting to see what happens next. Somebody seems to be doing me a rather large favour.....I think.

You even got your links to your "main" and "index" page on there

So it's likely then that this is just a rookie posting a gallery he found somewhere?

Now the $64,000 question...

...did you have a corresponding spike in sales from the traffic?

I just had a gallery listed on TheHun, first one I've submitted this year. Since Monday when it was listed I've had just over 9000 clicks to the sponsor tour and 4 sales at $25 each.

Better than I usually do with TheHun's traffic. However, that same sponsor converts at about 1:500 with my usual traffic.

Zero sales so far.

Interesting figures you have there Toby.
The sponsor I promoted on that gallery was already at a nasty 1:12000 (or something close to that) from Link List traffic. I just couldn't seem to get it right with them. Although there's no trial to help tempt Mr Surfer.

Almost 1500 hits sent to them from this listing so far, so I've a looooong way to go before I expect a sale if your figures are anything to go by!

Darn that Hun traffic is HUGE! Jeez. Quite scary seeing graphs and numbers keep going up and up and up. If nothing else it's an interesting experiment.

Just an update:
3012 hits so far to the main sponsor with no sales, and I estimate around 200 extra hits via the other links from that page back to my hub etc.

I wonder if I should make a gallery now and then for The Hun. I'd like to see one of my more successful sponsors getting such monstrous traffic on a (potentially) better designed page.
Hmmmm. Traffic overages versus possibilities.

Just a thought Gary...

I understand that you did not sub it to thehun and it was unexpected.

But I think it is better to "host the and/or a tour" when listed at thehun.
That way you can control the traffic.

Maybe you can contact thehuns review guy and switch out the sponser link, he is pretty cool so he'll probably let you and switch it to an FPA.
thehun has a link to there forum on his page... I don't want to post another forum on GGandJims site, so find it and ask him.

Best of luck with the listing.

Wow! nice, the hun actually does accept email submission from surfers that reccomend stuff, so maybe you have a big fan I doubt Review would have accepted it that way as it would not have been confirmed or made it though the bot. So must have been the hun himself via email kool, bit of good luck ....yes, i would post the situation to Review at thehun's forum, show him the link you want to switch in and he should approve it

Thanks for the responses. Very much appreciated.

I found the forum and I've been reading over there. That review man does seem like a good guy, but I'm not going to change anything now that the traffic has died down, but if there's a next time.....
I might have posted about it over there but I managed to get a sale so the temptation to change something disappeared. Turned out to be just one sale though. Oh well. The sponsor is now at 1:9175.

After seeing that traffic I have to admit to being tempted to try and get listed there once a month or something, just to see how well a targetted gallery will do. 136,000+ hits to a gallery should be a bit more productive than a single sale, shouldn't it?
I'm starting to fully understand the huge difference between heavy traffic and targetted traffic. Thanks LL owners!
