Question about a specific hosting plan --->
Hi there, there is a specific plan on www.webair.com - its " virtual unmetered"
it has 20 mbps data transfer. I have a question - do you think this plan will be ok for a TGP running on it ? I know some people that are building galleries on this plan and recieving some serious traffic (100-150 k daily) without their pages slowing down. But with TGP I'll have to install some scripts and stuff and Im not sure if this plan will be enough ? Im currently on webair's dedicated box , but I was hit by overages and would love to move to this plan... |

I guess you'll have to let us know a bit more...
Things like - traffic per day - what sort of scripts (eg. Comus' option to rebuild pages according to click popularity is adding to server load) - how much you're parsing in shtml (I reduced the number of adspots I'm parsing and CPU load went down) - all of the above is mostly depending on CPU and memory combination = that's where scripted pages demand performance = not the bandwidth!

I see , I mailed the webair crew about the server details (CPU, ram etc.) now im waiting for the answer.
For now I can tell you that traffic'll be like 100-200 K daily As for the scripts...hmm Im 100% sure there will be JMB's gallery rotator (this will be a niche TGP consiting mostly my galleries - some call it "fake tgp") but Its possible that I'll start taking limited number of submissions from partners in the future. "- how much you're parsing in shtml " I've got no idea about this one, hey it'll be my first TGP |
