Text recip links
Quick question: Im hoping to be able to create my "own" recip tables for those sites I submit to. They would contain the exact keywords, title tags and such as the "standard issue" ones, but would not be color schemed and sized as per LL specifications. Obviously, Im not going to do this if its gonna increase (or guarantee) rejections.
So here's the question: would smut gremlins, greenie, netpond etc.. care if their recip doesnt "look" like theirs? Is the look critical, or is the requirement that the anchor and title text are correct? What's driving this? The fact that recip tables are uglier than a sack full of monkeys....seriously - lime comic sans right next to black/red/white of MPL, right next to Danger Dave's 3 lines of bland text, next to gremlin's scrolling box of marquee love. UUUUUGLEEEEE lol. An example of what I mean is this: http://www.sexymalestrippers.net/nakedmen/ All the anchors & title/hovers are right, its just themed with the rest of the site. Are there any LL's known for rejecting this sorta thing? Greenie? Emerald? Jeremy? SimonT? Thanks in advance

Text recips done properly are absolutely fine for the LLs I submit to. (Around 50, including the ones you mentioned).
I've been submitting for about two months using them and haven't been rejected for it yet. (Apart from when I screwed one up and it didn't work, but it was a silly mistake and a quick fix). As long as they look clean and contain the proper text etc you shouldn't have any trouble. |

Like KG Gary said, if done properly no LL will have any problems listing your site. Just don't fuck up the recips

I also make my own text recips (sometimes) and haven't had any trouble getting listed anywhere. I have to say though that its been easier lately to just grab the recips that each ll provides and put it in my recip tables.

I've never used the LL recips right off their sites. And, except when I mess up the title tag, I've never had any problems because of it either.
If you're working with css it's also really easy to build plop & drop style custom text recips. Just take the cells in a previous table, switch around or swap out a few cells, and then you've got a whole new table with styles set by your css settings! |

Considering that Google that some people think that Google doesn't like anchor text spam (too much of the same achor text in links to the site, a sign of link trading as opposed to natural links), people who make custom return links are pretty much the best friends a link site has. You create variations on words, order of terms, and such that actually can help the link site build a wider and more acceptable combination of terms in the SERPs.
As long as the link goes to the right place, the rest is simple. Alex |

I was under the impression that a smart LL owner builds their recips with specific keyword targeting in mind. |

I think what Alex is referencing is more recent information that the big G now looks at too many text links with the exact same anchor text may be considered link spam. So, some variation in anchor text ... while remaining relevant to the category ... may in fact be a good thing. Please correct me if I'm wrong here Alex...or anyone else for that matter Speaking for myself, I'm pleased a punch with some variation in the anchor text of my recip links. Again, maintaining the links themselves and remaining true to the category...but some variation is a good thing |

MrYum, you are correct - too many of EXACTLY the same thing is apparently not the best way to do thing. When people create custom return links, they often create variation in the words, the order, even the spelling... all things that would not hurt IMHO.

Meatpounder: Exactly what I would feel works well - you using your unique view of my page to come up with a relavant link that in the end helps out what I am trying to do. For me, it is all good

Yea, I'm a big fan of custom recips...used em when doing free sites, and prefer em as a link list owner myself. The other upside to custom recips is 'usually' someone that does them actually checks to make sure they're visible on the site Added: Meatpounder, your approach sounds about perfect |
