Are you sure you're an accredited and honored pornographer?

Hello...want to start my own membership sites
I'm interested in starting my own online adult business(membership sites). However, I'm brand new to this type of work, and need some guidance to get started. I would really appreciate any advice or information that you could give me.
Since I am completely new to this type of business, even extremely basic advice will help me out a lot. Thanks for your help and time, and I'm looking forward to learning a lot from all of you! -WhoreDollars Team |

The best advice I can give you is to spend some time promoting existing membership sites as an affiliate.
Jumping into a paysite as your first endeavor in online adult is probably going to cost you a whole bunch of money that you'll never earn back. |

Mean people suck, nice people swallow, are you mean or nice?

When I started in this business I wanted to do the same thing that you want to do. Thank goodness I was convinced to build free sites first, as an affiliate of other programs, to learn HTML, traffic generation and traffic filtering. I realize now I would have lost a LOT of $$$'s jumping into something as complicated as running my own membership site/s. You didn't say what your qualification/experience is so it's kinda hard to advise you.

Starting with membership sites and an affiliate program is usually not the best idea. You know nothing about this business so you know nothing about membership sites, you know nothing about what a webmaster would want and so on. However if that is what you want to do it will be a hard long road. Number 1, do not spend a lot of money up front. Learn the business first before doing that. There is so much to owning membership sites. Content on the sites, closing surfers/making sales, keeping the members, attracting other webmasters to promote your program/sites and more. The sites you are planning on opening might be a good start. Bad sites, bad tours will kill you right away from the start. |

Times get tougher every month in this industry. Competition is unreal. I've been around for over ten years myself and have seen a lot as have many here. What the others say about not just jumping in to do paysites is very good advice. Even if you start low budget you can easily make mistakes which will either tarnish your name in the industry, get you sued, or flat out cost you more money than you make.
If I were you i would wait a good six months and read the boards daily. Start up some sites of your own such as freesites, blogs, etc just to get a feel for things and how it all works. Good lower budget solutions for getting in to the paysite/affiliate game are: http://www.ccbill.com (Best in regards to 3rd party processing and affiliate program tools) and http://www.verotel.com If I were you I would not even think about my own merchant account at this point! |

Without the ability to generate your own traffic, you will have a very tough time. Affiliate programs are a dime a dozen. Start by creating some blogs and building some freesites. If you know html, you are one step ahead of the game.
Paysites are a much bigger financial risk. And don't even think about opening up a paysite if you can't swing the $750 for visa, otherwise you are wasting your time. |

The first post by Toby hit it right on the head. Learn the in's and out's of traffic and site promotion first. Ramster followed up with more blunt terms..if you're new, then you know nothing about adult, don't think you do. There are aspects of this biz that can only be found out through hard work and experience.

If you have a lot of money to spend, then outsource the affiliate program to a management company and let them handle promotion, traffic generation, affiliate relations, etc.
If you're on a low budget, spend at least six months to a year learning the biz, especially focusing on traffic generation, and once you've got your own traffic, then evaluate whether running a paysite or being an affiliate is best for you. Lots less headaches being an affiliate. |

You might spend a little more time researching the industry, than you spent coming up with your future program name
