Happy Black Friday
Damn, I ate just a little too much yesterday. And of course argued all day about the new oven and Turkey My wife would not believe that since it is a convection oven, I had to take 2 hours off the time and drop the oven temp by 25 degrees. It was the best Turkey we ever had
We turned on the brand new Christmas lights and at least 4 of the 50 strings didn't work. 3 of them are up in a tree that I had my daughters boyfriend climb. |

Morning
Had Thanksgiving dinner under the carport in a trailer park with a group of Pagans with a whole lot of dogs and cats. Everyone was very nice and the food was very good. Went to the gym yesterday only to find it closed so will be doing the gym thing today. My friend wants me to go with her and hit the malls later today. Personally I don't see the allure of dealing with hordes of people in long lines at over crowded places but I did tell her that I would go so I guess I will be at the malls later today despite not needing anything. Plus she is a little petite Asian woman so when we go shopping together we can't shop for clothes in the same stores but we do always have a good time together. Off to find something to cook and make another cup of espresso… |

Never seen the point of having to be the first in line, read a story in Orlando that people waited 7+ hours in line at a BestBuy and a fight broke out when someone cut at 11:30pm.
Not sure what we are doing today, the morning came too early. |

for the 1st time in 25 or so years i'll be working front line retail in my shop. The last time i was out on the ''floor" was wrapping packages one xmas at Macy's 34th street. I swore NEVER ever again. I worked a couple of years while at REI, but i was in the back, pulling stock for the shelves..it was pretty easy.
soo i'm off to sell some hot wax.. have a good one!! |

Doc you have my sympathies. I spent 15 years in retail sales, and all those "day after sales" have scarred me for life. Needless to say, I will not be leaving the house today.

Morning!
Yeah, im with you Torn. My mom and sister do the 3am black friday shop stalking shit. You know, it's not really any big secret to the allure. It's simple marketing - manufacturers start a blitz of advertising for the latest game console (this year, Xbox 360) so that every kid thinks they just have to have it. Then they only ship 5 to each Walmart. WTF?! Are we so fucked up that we'll resort to gimmicks like this simply to draw in crowds? What about the kids who WON'T be getting a shiny new xbox this year because Mom and Dad were 26th in line since Midnight? Fuck... you guys got me fired up already... only 8:40 my time and I'm already rolling HAHA Dead on right though, I have no interest bumping elbows with every scuzzball at walmart fighting for the latest Elmo doll (that's one of the ones that started the popularity of this marketing craze, you'll recall!). I'm going to drink coffee and look at naked women for a while, and then, once the crowds have cleared out and sales have ended, I'll load up with the wife and go pay full price for shit like a good little American. =/\= GobGook Out. |

Good morning
Ill be leaving today for a 2 day vacation and be back Sunday afternoon - and Im not taking a computer, blackberry or even a wireless PDA - but just in case I will have the cell so if something goes crazy Greenie knows how to get me Ya'll have fun hear! Had a little fun with some real backwoods folk the other day - at a petstore and they have a really nice white parrot there - a group of two moms and their hordes of kids came in - one of the moms goes over to the parrot - and turns to me and says "Do he talk?" - I just turned towards here and said "Do you?" |

Morning!! I'm working this black Friday, so I'll not be hitting any stores. Though later on tonight I do have to do some grocery shopping. I'm cooking a secondary turkey dinner tomorrow night for my roomates and my dad.

It really started back in the 1930s when Macys started their parades to lure people into the store the day after thanksgiving with the floats of all the brand new toys for the current season. |

Years ago, my wife and I would stay up all night Thanksgiving to go shopping at 4AM at Sears. Last night she suggested we do it again just for fun. All I could do was laugh.

Great points being born in '79 myself, while you were all getting domain names for free and making your millions hehe. I guess the point I was making, in relation to your 30's/80's blitz references -- were cabbage patch kids only shipping in quantities of 5-10 per store? Did Macy's only carry 5 Big Bird toys? Sure "The Day After" has been the biggest shopping day for a good long while, but I think they're taking it a bit far these days... or I'm getting to be an old fuddy duddy already (at a mere 26!). And yeah... I had THREE cabbage patch kids when i was a kid LOL |

I'm off to Ottawa for the weekend, my annual road trip with the boys
They're teaching me to play poker this time, although they seem to think if they can feed me enough alcohol it will become strip poker. Will hit a couple of museums tomorrow, and then the Capital Bash in the evening (and the laptop is staying home) |

And Lord, we are especially thankful for nuclear power, the cleanest, safest
energy source there is. Except for solar, which is just a pipe dream |

Picked up my girls at the airport yesterday and cooked Thanksgiving dinner for them. It's nice that when my wife is gone for more then 2 days I still miss her. I don't think you'll catch me any where close to a store today.
