my 14 yr old son just asked me the same thing. he wanted to know if all those other people my age lived in a different world than I did.

I had to tell him No, they have just forgotten what we sat in for.

The Siberian bogs are melting, which will release billions of tons of methane. The Himalayan glaciers are melting, which will cut off 70% of the water to India and Southeast Asia. The NYT today suggests that the sea level will rise 2 to 4 feet in the next 50 years, so current efforts to rebuild New Orleans are doomed anyway.

Soon the poor will come boiling out of the slums around the world, flinging bottles of urine.

Adaptation to horror will be the key to happiness.
