NCAA Football 2007
Is this the craziest year ever or what?
12 unranked teams have beaten a top 5 now thanks to Arkansas over LSU; the old record in a year was 7. THE Ohio St was dead in the water and now, if Oklahoma wins the Big 12 like I think they will, it will be WVU vs Ohio St in the BCS. Just a nutty year over all… GO SOONERS! |

I don't really follow the NCAA but I do keep up on the news and sports sites and I agree, there seems to be an awful lot of ranked teams losing this year. Seems like every week the past few weeks this is happening.
Ohio State is lucky, usually once you lose a game you have no chance to play for the title. Now they still do. |

I think Mizzou will beat both KU and OU to play WVU.

Pretty damn crazy year in college football for sure. The KU and Mizzou will be a good one tonight, but I think KU will take it.

The SEC was as much a "blood bath" as I thought it would be.
No team from the SEC will play for the National Championship but 10 out of 12 teams are "bowl eligible" Best conference in America . . . Always has been, always will be

10 of 11 Big Ten teams are Bowl eligible in a "weak" year and there is a great chance we will be playing for the title.

I agree 100% but I'll go one step further, it's the toughest conference. Usually more SEC teams in the top 20 and top 10 at the start of the year but the conference is so tough that most usually get at least one loss which kills national title hopes. Watch out for Auburn though, starting all those freshmen and true freshmen. The next few years are gonna be good for the Tigers.

FUCK the BCS!
Ok SEC fans I would like to hear your opinions.
As of now, the BCS game is Missouri vs West Virginia, if one of those teams loses this weekend, which has a great chance of happening, Ohio State will play one of them for the BCS title. If WVU and Mizz both lose this weekend, the BCS game will be between Ohio State and Georgia which is why I am posting this…. Is it fair for a team, who did not win, or play for, their own conference title to be allowed into the BCS title game? (It has happen 2 times in the past and both times they was blown out in the title game) Georgia lost to South Carolina AT HOME and SC is TERRIBLE and finished 6-6 (and don’t give me the “injury” excuse, every team has to deal with it) and UG also lost to a WEAK Tennessee team (who somehow fell into the SEC title game where I think they will be blown out by LSU by 20+) Personally I think the BCS is total shit which is proved by even having this as a possibility, it has been a failure since day one and it is proves that every year. This over all has been the WEAKEST football season I ever remember…. Except when BYU won it in 1984, no team stood out as the #1 team would normally stand out and the “best” teams do not deserve to be in the title game. Ok, I stirred the nest; I would like to hear some SEC opinions. We need an 8 team playoff…. Or at least a 4 team playoff….. just give us a damn playoff! |

Playoffs is the ONLY way to do it. Go 4 teams, winners play for the title. And make the 4 teams come from the winners of their respective Bowl Games (so in essence it's really an 8 team playoff).
This way the Bowl games are still huge for each school that play sin them then afterwards to declare a national champion 4 winners of the top bowl games play the first week of January after the Rose Bowl (or whatever is the last one) then the following week the winners play for the title. |

If I'm not mistaken they took strength of schedule out of the formula for figuring the rankings, which was a mistake. The only fair thing to do and get the sports voters out of the picture is a playoff, but from what I hear coaches are against a playoff system due to the number of games that would be required for a team. DUH What's another 2-3 games when a national championship is on the line? The other teams would be facing the same thing. |

While I respect OSU, their Bowl record against SEC teams (0-8) is what it is! They don’t want any part of Georgia or LSU
To be fair, Tennessee has played Penn St. 3 times since 1993 and is (0-3) If they were to meet PSU in a bowl I would no doubt take PSU until that trend changes As for a playoff? NCAA basketball has what? 64 fucking teams or something like that! And year after year 4 or 5 teams are always bitching because they didn’t get to be number 64 Eight team playoff? What happens when the football season ends and there are 3 undefeated teams and 8 one loss teams. Who gets in? Who stays out and why? Isn't that the argument now! I’m not opposed to a playoff, my point is it solves nothing it just gives us the same debate from a different angle. Then again, as always, I could be wrong PS. I personally think Hawaii should be given a shot. Strength of schedule and general perception say different, fuck that shit! In a year where 11 or maybe 12 Top 10 teams have been knocked off by unranked teams I ask . . . . have the “poll makers” learned nothing?

And we now have 13 unranked teams beating a top 5 team.
Pitt over WVU????? WHAT THE FUCK???? What exactly am I smoking? OK is winning as I expected... I think VT deserves a title shot more then UG or LSU. |

Blue: Just look at D2 and D3 and look how well their playoffs work, there is always going to be someone who didn’t make the cut, but it’s much better to have a #9 team complain they missed the cut then to have three teams who could be #1, but one team sitting at home watching the other two play for a title that they didn’t get a shot at due to some votes by some sports reporter who lives on a different coast and didn’t get to see them play more than 1 game.
Licker: Coaches have very little, if any, say in having a playoff, it is controlled by the university presidents, and the last I heard less than 20% of the presidents like the idea of a playoff. |

So after all of the craziness this season it looks like it comes down to the pre-season #1 and #2 in the BCS Championship Game.

Definitely a crazy year for college ball. I think having OSU in the champ game sucks. The only thing that would suck worse is giving a shot to Kansas or Hawaii. If they get in I think LSU should start playing local girl schools...go undefeated...then get in every year. While losing twice doesn't exactly make us primo championship game material, the other choices suck worse. We lost 2 games, in triple overtime, to other SEC teams. I make the argument we are the best choice. |

Unless the BCS computer does something really crazy it looks like Ohio State and LSU. All the other polls have them #1 and #2 except Harris which isn't out as of right now. Geaux Tigers! Last edited by Licker4U; 2007-12-02 at 05:40 PM.. |

Just remove the "C" and you have it - BS!!
I don't give a crap about strength of schedule, if you're undefeated, you should deserve a shot at the title. If you get spanked, oh well, you earned to get there. I agree with Ramster, a 4 team from the bowl games playoff.

That would be the biggest BS ever!!!! So, the SEC would continue to play tough teams (which is required) and places like Hawaii can play daycare centers and they should hit the championship game every year??

They are undefeated but they didn't play anyone of substance. They are one of the two best teams in the country? They should play for the national championship? I think not. |
