Hardlinking to free sites
So here's the question.
Most of you LL owners do link to free sites directly. Basicly, this should mean that you are giving away your PR to those sites which has no sence. The reason for maintaining a LL is to get as much SE traffic as possible and then send that traffic to sites you list. So direct links should be kinda wrong thing to do. No direct links to free sites (i.e. through script or somethg) should mean more IN links then OUT ones and as a result better PR and more traffic to free sites. So let's discuss this, what do ya think? |cool| |

Interesting point, Morph. I don't know much about SEO or PR, but what you are saying seems to make sense except that when a free site is submitted, it has a recip back to the LL, and usually a recip back to the specific page the free site is listed on.
I would also like to see a little discussion on this topic.

Far as I knew, most LLs do use a script.

You've got a point morph, but if you think about it like this:
Say you list the 50 or 100 newest freesites on your mainpage, the rest will move on down. So if you have a couple of 1000 freesites linking to you and only link back to 100 of them from your mainpage, and to the rest you link back from your category pages, you still have a lot more in links than outlinks, to your mainpage at least. And plus, the in-links to the freesite from the other linklists make the link back to your linklist weigh more, you wouldn't have that if all LL's used script links And it would make freesite submission less interesting, say you build a 1000 freesites, and you get a couple se hits on each, that will start to count after a while, and you won't get them if everybody links to the freesite with a script link. If you take that away it would also maybe lead to sooner taking down a freesite by a builder. Just my $0.02 |

Yeah, so why would I want to submit freesites to some dinky linklist that doesn't even pass on any search engine relevance?
Set up your linklist that way and enjoy the cheaters, newbies, and dumb fucks that submit to you. My loyalty will remain with the smart linklist owners that don't try to rip off their good submitters, and who understand that SE traffic is a two way street. |

Selling a LL? Text site? PM me

This is a game were we are helping each other. Period.
If I pass PR down to freesites...that warning page will gain PR....and thus my recip on that page will then exist on a page with PR..... XPorn |

I have never decided whether to list a submitted site based on its PR - seems kinda stupid to me - the purpose of a Link List it to trade traffic for content - period. The submitter sends me a site with content for my link list, my link list sends traffic in return.
If I had based my link list on getting search engine rankings only from submitted sites I would have been out of the biz a long time ago - most of that comes from trades that we do between LLs and our own "feeder" SE sites. And I would say based on the guys that follow my philosophy, we are all ranking great in the SEs - while the ones that only concern themselves with the almighty "PR" just dont seem to make it. |
