My First Video Blog

I need a few extra eyes on this one - I've tested it in IE and FF but would like to know if it works in opera and safari.

Also need to know if the pages load ok on a slower connection, if the sound works on various platforms etc....

I'm also looking for a few good trades with other hand-written amateur video blogs. Sorry - no hardlink trades to splogs on this one.

I still have a little work on the sidebar but the blog is pretty much the way I'll be leaving it unless there are issues that need to be fixed.

As a side note - against my better judgment, I used widgets in the sidebar instead of hard coding it - the problem I'm having is on the text widget that I used to load "Todays Top Amateur Sites" now has no edit button - making it impossible to edit or delete that widget. I believe it happened because the text title is too long for the widget thingy......

Any ideas?

ok it works now, i guess you were fiddling with it earlier...

looks good to me, but I can't help but noticing how many videos you're giving away. arranging them on 2 columns is something i haven't seen often, i'm not saying it's bad but why not have them the ol fashion way and use the extra for another column of ads or links or archives or whatever... Also underlined links would probably get clicked more

Sorry for that - My server crapped out on me right after I made that post and went to the club. When I came home, my entire server was down. Apparently the hosting company had forgotten to add my server to their monitoring systems. To say I'm a little upset is an understatement.

"I do not see anything in the logs to indicate the case.
Based on the timing I would suspect that it was simply a failed restart during normal log rotation.

The larger issues is that we were not notified.
Unfortunately your server was not added correctly to out monitoring system which resulted in our not being notified when the web & ftp servers were off-line.
I am very sorry for this error. It has been corrected and will not be a problem again."

Then I had to make another call in order to get the database connections reset. AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGG

Thanks for the feedback JohnnyR. The clips are the same ones I use on FS's 120 to 144 sec. I thought about not posting them all and haven't made up my mind yet. With the number of vids that I currently have, setting the vids side-by-side seamed to work best on this template. As a note; the vids are spaced with non-breaking spaces not tables so they shouldn't screw up the feed to badly. Not that I expect too many people to pick up this site as a feed.

One of my goals on this blog was to avoid making it too "spamy" - Since I'm pushing primarily my own sites - I thought I'd try to gain more loyal bookmarkers. I'm also hoping that over time, they would be more likely to become members then if I filled the pages with too many adds.

I'm working on the script to get the vids to be clickable to the paysite url once they finish but I need a day or two of quiet before I can get to that.

From my side just two things.Too much free content to load and see.
I have DSL connection so it's not very fast and had to wait little for everything to download.And you have put 12 clips in one post from one set, it's like I watch whole movie for free .Other than that good idea and nice design, looks good in my Firefox and IE

Nice looking design/layout papa. I have super fast cable internet (direct hard line to my house) and the blog took a long time to load. I think it's a good idea what you're doing -but maybe limit the amount of movies. I'm thinking people with slower connections will get impatient waiting for it to load and surf on out of there. I'm no authority on blogs though - just starting out with my very first one so I basically know nothing about this. Good luck!

Works and looks fine in Mac Safari but, like as others have mentioned, it has too much content.

These are just chunks of movies.. and he has realhomemadesexmovies in the domain name. Another possible way could be using smaller samples in thumb size, not in kb and add some more text? They looks huge = a lot but there is a minimum tgps accept for instance. I saw a gallery lately on the Hun having 6x 12-13 MB videos, now that guy will have a nice bandwidth bill for sure...

Working fine here on a 22" wide screen in Vista 64 (IE7), just the middle age spread that looks out of place. lol


EDIT: just to add, load time is average on 2mb DSL, sound & video all working.

I like the theme / template

Load time was about average for me

As far as "too much content", I'll let you sort that out. My personal feeling is that on a blog less is more.

I have slow DSL, 786k connection. I gave up after about 2 minutes of waiting for it to load. Yes, quite a bit loads up so I could look at it, but forget clicking on anything while waiting for it to load.

That said, I'm on the slow side of the internet, and I definitely would have lost patience with the load. I envy the peeps it loaded fast for.

I really like the layout and the design. I didn't try watching any of the movies, so not sure on the is it too much content or not, since not sure how long any of them are.

Loaded fast enough on a DSL connection here. I like how it looks (using Safari now) and as a 'video blog' (vlog?) perhaps you do need to have more video content like you're using there. And the clips are only 12 seconds long, so on your first page there's less than 5 minutes of total video spread among 24 clips.

I just wish I knew what a glass mannequin was.

Thanks for all the feedback - I'm still on the fence on the content amount - our newer clips are 20 sec and we have fewer of them but the overall time is about the same. I still want this to be a bolg that folks bookmark so I think I'm leaning to the leave the content side of the argument. I can always change it later if needed.

There is a fine line between bookmarkers who bookmark because a site entertains them and those that bookmark a site because it allows them to entertain themselves.

Just my suggestion but make it about your sexual adventures and how you (a 40+ year old man) was able to take a chance encounter with a hot 19 year old mom and turn it into a fuck fest that she was willing to let you video than about the video's themselves.

Surfers will return to read about your latest conquests and still join your site so they can watch you make her scream.

Of course, that just my suggestion, I could be wrong....but seldom am.

LOL - great points to consider - and I will consider them. Maybe I'll make two - and see which one works best - I have a few more decent domain names that work well in this niche.
