Simple stats question

I have just a simple question regarding my stats that really is not earth shattering, but non the less I have seen it the last few months and wondered how to read it.

I use Awestats via Colocation. Where is says the number I bookmarkers for this particular domain, and it's the root domain, I see the following:

Miscellaneous
Add to favorites (relative indicator) 2561 / 1549 Visitors 165.3 %

Now, I'm a complete stump at math, but that just does not seem right. How should I interpret that?

Again, not an earth shattering deal, but I have enought trouble interpreting my stats as it is. The less confusion on my end the better.

Thanks

On the first glance I'd say that some people bookmarked you more than once. Lol. Seriously, this is really odd.

There is no way to measure who bookmarks your site. Awstats is looking at how many browser requests for your site's fav.ico there have been and is assuming that if the image is not requested, then it is already in the browser's cache - and then makes the assumption that that visitor must have been at your site before. Nothing to do with bookmarking at all. Also, not every browser handles fav.icos in the same manner. Just ignore that number and you'll be a happier webmaster.

The same would apply to many other numbers that fall under the general category of "stats".

you might look into putting google analytics on the site. It's not 100% but it will catch some of the people that are return visitors and do a better job at figuring out things.

I've recently put it on some of my sites. (recent as in the last two months.) It has given me a good general idea of where most surfers are looking and how long a surfer spends on certain sites.

just an idea.

Cheers,
Be

Yes, I've placed some Google Analytic code in some of my pages. Some of that information is pretty in depth. Someday I'll learn what some of it means.....
