Juggling Time Between projects ??

when you find yourself with a few things you wanna work on

will you just work on one at a time and stay the course until one is finished or ???

does any one have any good tips for managing time on different projects

I tend to stick my head in the sand and keep going on one thing ignoring everything and everybody but thats not really the most profitable way and I tend to burn out that way pretty quick

I get bored easily, so if I just did one thing all day it would end up being rather unproductive because I'd constantly find other things distracting me. I find the best way is to have 2 or 3 different kinds of things going at once; going back and forth between them keeps me interested, but it's not so much that I feel overwhelmed.

I do, however, have to have structure within that, so I'll block out what I'm doing either by chunks of work; for example do 2 pages on the LL then move to something else for a while, or time - spend 1 hr doing this then switch to that. Setting self-imposed deadlines is a good way to keep things flowing too - try giving yourself a little treat when you've finished a project/met a deadline to give you some incentive. Chocolate usually works for me

When I'm really engrossed in something however, that all goes out the window

You have to have some flexibility to fit in the everyday stuff too, because if you just ignore everyone they'll think you don't like them anymore or have forgotten them or something

I break my projects down into smaller chunks and then do a chunk of each project each day and often I have about a half dozen projects being worked on each day.

This is generally the way I work. However, at times I will admit it can delay certain milestones in a project. (just because another project I might just feel like working on at that point in time. It's one thing in this coming year I need to get better on in regards to priority.)

The biggest thing I've done over the past year is actually write down items into manageable action items. This allows me to just look at my projects and know exactly things I can do that move things forward towards the completion goal.

I force myself to first do things that will most likely make me money,like submitting and building a few sites.Once thats done,I work on other less important things like cropping,naming galleries etc.

Theres been days where I get all nuts and hit one task really hard but I get burnt out fast.

I tend to have, in general, 2 to 3 projects on the burner at any given time, although my way of working is quite different from most people. I'll get all "current" projects to a state where I can throw up a 'coming soon' page. After that I find the project that is most likely to keep me entertained while working on it, and finish that. Rinse, repeat.

I'm over worked and under paid...I typically have too many projects going on at one time...I'm trying to manage that better by letting go some of the domain names that i have and just trim down the fat to a few projects I can make more lucrative...

I do much that same as Cleo, divide and conquer.

If I'm in the middle of a major project that requires serious focus I try to get all my routine chores handled first thing each day so I don't have to worry about them if I get on a roll and don't want to stop.

I jot everything down on stick-it notes and put them on a blank wall in a general order that they need to be done.

Generally I have 5-6 on the go at a time. As I finish one or get hung up, I grab another one.

Myself i usually have about 6 or so on the go and bounce between them but i also can get to involved in one and forget everything else .I try to focus more but thats also a work in progress

I try to work on the things that will make money first and then on the projects I have on the burner warming. I can lose track of time easy working when I am not interrupted my family(LOL).

The most time I can spend doing just one thing is about 4 hours before I go bonkers.

I usually have 1 too many things going on and what I have found makes it easier is to block out time. Or set a goal that you want to finish for that project and work on it that way. Im sure much like everyone else, I get distracted and have to get myself back on track..but I think the key no matter what is to do something no matter how small you may feel it is. Every little bit helps.

Absolutely! I just try to make sure I get at least one damn thing done every day that will/should/could boost or at least maintain my income.

This thread has actually got me thinking. After some thought, I have a new plan of attack on my projects that will hopefully get them completed ahead of time.

i always worked on several projects at the same time, my problem only was i started in the meantime again new projects and ofcourse the projects which take me years to get finished because i am never satisfied on what i do with them (to much projects to many distractions cant get my time in balance anymore to get them finished at the same time). My new rule from some years ago is......start only one project, focus on that one and start a new one if the other one is finished.....it works much better...for me

I tend to break mine down into what I need to do daily...submit 3 galleries for instance...and try to get that done first and out of the way.

Then after that, I may pick a job to do on a daily basis. For instance, I tend to work on my eBay stuff on Sundays, as that is the best day to start/stop auctions.

Today, I need to get up an AVS site that is almost ready to submit, that I didn't work on over the weekend, since they wouldn't review it anyways.

Like several posted, I also tend to work on the stuff that is going to make me money first. Unfortunately, other projects tend to suffer because of it. And I'm REALLY ADD with two monitors, I get distracted easily, so it helps if every project is in smaller chunks so I can finish it and move on to the next.

I have a little weekly calender book and I track what I do daily on projects in it. It helps me see things like what sites I submitted galleries for last, what I worked on, oh yea forgot that insn't finished, etc.

Well, I tend to manage all my job and finish it on time because I have a timesheet to follow. My boss gives me several things to do and I used to divide the tasks within the period given so I can make sure that I can finish it on the right time.

i have to say....working on projects also depends on this: do you have a wife or a hubby and do you have kids, they need attention too, so that is and was my problem too, hubby and 2 kids and all my projects....try to get a balance between fam and get all your projects going, nop do it like this, start only one project and balance that with the fam too, that way is much easier

I haven't been as productive as I'd like the past year so I've been thinking about getting a new Franklin Planner. I used to live by one in my former career so much that my old boss would fuck with me by stealing it, then call me into an unexpected meeting. After 5minutes of paging me I'd walk into a room full of laughing people with my planner on the table.

I think I need it again. Then 3 times a day I'll go through my to do list. Once to start the day, once around lunch to review how I'm doing and again at the end of the day to make up tomorrow's list.

When editing code or doing design I'm terrible and have to shut things out but a lot of my day could be better spent.
