Submitter domain now an attack site

Hey all, Emmy and I just found a bunch of links from a submitter called Petros whose domains now come up as attack sites.

The reason I am posting this is because our linkbot checker did not pick up this issue. We found it because we are doing a manual check of all of our links.

The domains are nastyfreesites.com and pornislands.com his submit email is petros @ pornislands.com

thanks I indeed found the same and deleted - also I found submitter name andys submitted every day and had decent sites, he left his domains expire and I had to remove 400 + sites - I just dont understand it, he could have moved them to cheap hosting,

fuckin people are stupid, so what we dont make what we use to, he just lost income that he didnt have todo nothing to have some extra

look at me I havent built in years and I still can pay my sever bill and have a little extra left

and then The submitters dont come a tell us that the 400 or so sites are going off line

yes, well, I'm dropping some domains that might have old freesites in nonproductive niches on them - so don't ban me if some aggregator buys the drops and puts evil shit on them.

Not all domains are worth keeping, no matter how cheap the hosting.

I have a pretty good bot that I check once a day.

If a domain goes 404 or no dns I just delete the domain.

That's what I've been doing. A lot of people are allowing old domains to expire, or re-purposing the domains, so I just delete whatever links are crap and leave it at that. Hell, I have allowed a shitty domain with old free sites to expire. Like Bill said, some things aren't worth the hassle of keeping around.

The free site/link list business has changed so much in the last few years. I think many of us have softened up a lot in our approaches to issues like these. There was a time that I'd ban a submitter and delete every link he/she ever submitted if I found a single free site 404ing. Now, I'll check to see it's domain-wide or a submitter-wide issue, then delete only what's bad. With AndyS, who I loved as a submitter, I saw that a few of his domains had gone nuts up, and knew the rest would too eventually, so I had to delete all of his links. If he came back to the business tomorrow, I'd gladly allow him to submit again.

Submitters are no longer a dime a dozen. Maybe they never were, but we certainly used to act that way, didn't we? We have to admit, Bill - even Tommy - warned us that our prick-ish policies made it not worth being a free site submitter. Now that conversions have turned to shit, the submitters have no good reason stick around.

I think for this day and age, and for the fairly small traffic we get back, its just not worth jumping through the hoops anymore. I had a go at freesite submitting again for say 20 or so freesites, and doing a check of the rules, virtually nothing has changed. I did notice it was a little easier to get a freesite approved by many LL's, but still had those who were just nitpicky (I was 2 pixels under the pixel count for one .. seriously .. not approving it was just a prickish move).

Rules for the sake of rules will always come back to bite you, and judging by submits on most ll's submitters have largely gone to other things. I can see the value of ll submitting, but the whole ll model needs to reinvent itself first. That being said I think I will still submit from time to time just for the SE benefit

Yeah mate ... i should have been more specific though. Many ll's ask for XXXX number of pixels when you add the length and width of a pic.

happened with me too I get drunk with greenguy, and weeks later or whenever pricked me of 1 sec on video

thats why I quit building when I was happy wity my income and went to galls only some years later, I guess I shouldnt have taken it personal

but taking it nonpersonal, GG and MML was prolly the best at reviewing than anyone, and back then traffic was different then, so you had to have tough rules, and hardly anyone bothered changing there rules page to - todays GIG LOL

just wanted to mention.....andyr was a regularly active member on ANS, i would have to imagine that he would not have meant to let that happen and might be recovering it soon. maybe something is wrong with him im not sure if he was the one there that mentioned having some kind of a medical condition coming on. just thought it might be worth some kind of mention as he was always helpful and im sure he has many sites.

I have no problem with him and as UW and Plateman said his sites were good and I agree with that but the domain had become an attack site and that's the reason I told people about it. I couldn't leave links up on my site that could affect people coming to my pages without risking losing them and that I can't afford. That's the only reason I started this thread, to let people know the site was down and that it was an issue. If the domain had not become an attack site he would still be listed with me and I'd be happy to have his links live.

Hiya I just wanted to apologise for any dropped domains and any problems from 404’s. I always tried to make a good product and stick by the rules.

After 8 plus years of adult I got tired of the grind, the bullshit and falling $$ so decided to go all in mainstream and just stopped one day, I thought the big list of domains I used were set to auto renew so never gave it a second thought. My mistake that has now been corrected.
